Charge 2 band falls off

So I have the charge 2 and I love it. But in the recent weeks the one side of the band keeps falling off. It will unlatch in my shirt sleeve and just hang, or it will literally fall off my wrist. I can’t seem to figure out how to fix it.

Do I need a new band or is it a problem with the two metal pieces that latch together?

Any help is appreciated as it’s just getting super annoying.

Hi

I lost my FItbit because the band kept falling off... so I have given up on this poor product and instead gone for Apple Watch...

Hopefully my band issues are over...

I’ll be buying a Garmin to replace the Fitbit that fell off.

I am having this problem now but I've had my Fitbit for a few years.  I've never changed or taken off the band but in the last week or so, one side of the band comes lose while doing normal chores.  Usually it catches but sometimes falls to the ground.  One day I was chopping some wood and every chop made it come loose but it never had before.

I looked it over and what I first thought might be a small screw, now looks like a tiny piece of dried glue.  I think the metal clip in the band used to be glued in and the glue came loose.  The metal clip stayed in the band but was movable so the "watch" section did not clip in securely.  As long as you did not do anything strenuous then it was okay. It also looks like the rubber where the clip sets might have started to deteriorate.

As I type, I have added some super glue to try and reattach the metal clip to the band.  Even if this  works,  I suspect for only a short time.  Since the guts of the watch still work then I'll pick up a new strap the next time I see one in a store or will order on line.

In my case my fitbit is well past warranty and I do wear it during most of my waking hours so I do expect some wear on the band.

As an update - having thought I'd lost my Fitbit I discovered it 2 weeks  ago under a settee where it had obviously fallen off

I too have gone down the super glue route and I'm pleased to report that my Fitbit wristband is securely fixed again and hasn't fallen off since I glued it. Obviously I'm keeping an eye on it and but it still seems very firm (2 weeks on) and I'm not expecting it to fall off again any time soon. Good luck everyone!!

I had a different problem with my first Fitbit and they did the same thing.  Just offered a % reduction to buy a new product.  What made that offer insulting was that the % reduction off their price made the fitbit the same price if you bought the same product at a big box store like Costco.  Not much of a sales pitch when they offer you a discount which is the same as you can get in your local stores.

I did go with a second Fitbit and it did last a number of years without problems.  Now my band is coming off so I'll try a new band as I am past warranty but if that doesn't fix the problem then I will not buy a third Fitbit.  I will buy another brand after doing a review as to the best product.

Thanks so much for your generous response. I ended up doing the same thing. I bought three bands and they're very reasonably priced so it was no problem. I think there was just a little plastic thing that was broken that wasn't snapping in. But my new ones work just fine.
All good now. 😉

You can buy a fitbit band to replace the one that keeps falling off. Look on Fitbit, Ebay or Amazon they all sell them. Type the model of your fitbit and the word band and that should do the trick.

Forgot to say good luck to you all with problems. I have had my replacement Fitbit for nearly a year and so far so good.

I lost my FItbit when the strap broke off..

I added super glue when it first came off... subsequently, I lost the whole FItbit and didn’t know that it had come split away from the main FItbit

I lost my FItbit when it came loose... I didn’t even know that it had come loose.

This flaw in the band to clasp mechanism, that ultimately leads to the clasp releasing from the receiver clasp on fitbit device itself is like a pickpocket! I've nearly lost mine, recieved a replacement band and it's doing the same thing again. ☹️

I've stopped wearing mine in lue of a proper solution.

I said in another message that I had use Crazy Glue to secure metal piece to the strap so that the watch would click into it. I found this was not particularly useful. And my Fitbit kept dropping off. So I put a little drop of super glue directly on the connection between the watch and the strap. My logic is that I will have to take off that strap when I get a new one but that strap what's already damaged so if I'm picking it off from the watch in little bits and pieces and that won't matter as it wasn't holding anyway. I will just have to be very careful getting any residual Super Glue off of the actual watch before I put the new band on. Having said that I have now warned the wash for 3 days straight and it has not fallen off. I am not ordered my new watch strap yet but likely will do that in a few days

I have the same problem.  I got my Fitbit Charge II for Christmas 1919 and I am on my third wristband and it's only September 2020.  I think it's from the strain on the band/watch connection related to having a small wrist.  At least that's what I think it is for me.  I agree that this is a flawed product.

I ordered mine through Amazon ($5.99). However, other people responding to this post have received them free by contacting Fitbit and telling them about the problem.

Just contact fit bit customer support and they will walk you through the process. I'm sure they understand that there is a basic design flaw with the band. Basic and chronic. After my second band broke in the same way I gave up on the device, the concept and the company.

It's probably better that my sleep habits, vital signs and exercise routine isn't stored for all time in Googles never-ending database.

Wow. So many having the same problem on an ongoing basis. This was my first Fitbit. I sit at a computer most days so it was not abused. I never changed the original band. Yet it fell off while outdoors and is lost. So the only solution is to buy a new one? Fool me once ... twice? I don’t think so. The advice from my kids - get an Apple Watch instead!

Sorry to hear about that. Have you got insurance? If you did you could replace it. I contacted fitbit and they sent me a new band, lasted a year then the band started dropping again! I hope this latest one will last more than a year. Good luck!
