Charge 2 battery not lasting a day

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have mentioned this before and been unable to receive any legible or reliable advice. My battery life is unable to last up to eight hours and cannot even last me to the end of my work day.  A colleague of mine has the same watch and can last up to a week without charge, this is just crazy. Because of this I have to wear a separate watch on my other wrist just to check the time with fear of wasting my battery, I've even disabled reminders to move and notifications. I've taken all the advice and non of it has worked, fitbit better not tell me to replace my battery because it has been like this since the day I got it!

It's nice to see you around the forums @Charli-!  I'm sorry to hear about the battery issues you've been experiencing with Charge 2. Thanks for already troubleshooting this, nice way to go my friend!

As per the description, it seems that it has insufficient power source. Where do you charge your tracker? Have you checked if by any chance the USB port or outlet is faulty? If you haven't done so, try a different port. A UL-certified wall charger will also work. Don't use a USB hub.

Have you checked if the contacts on your tracker or charging cable are not dirty? Dust and debris can accumulate over time and prevent a charge. Try cleaning them by following these instructions.

Check the alignment and try reconnecting your tracker to the charging cable. See my image below:

You can also consider the following tips:

  • If you use the Fitbit app, make sure All-Day Sync is turned off.
  • Make sure that Fitbit app is up-to-date (Android, iOS)
  • (Android only) Turn off the Always Connected setting. Similar to All-Day Sync, it can reduce battery life.
  • If you don't need heart rate data, change the Heart Rate setting to Off. When you turn it back on, use Auto.
  • Turn off Quick View. Since it causes the screen to light up when you turn your wrist towards you, turning this setting off may prolong battery life.
  • Use guided breathing sessions less frequently. Multiple sessions per day may reduce battery life.
  • If you have many silent alarms set, consider deleting some. Each alarm you add up to the maximum of 8 reduces battery life by a small percentage.
  • Don't charge your tracker in extreme heat or cold.

I'm having the exact same problem.  Mine wasn't always like this and over the last 6 months has gotten worse.  It is now to the point where it doesn't last more than 48 hours.  I'm having to charge it every other night.  Super frustrating because if I'm not in a place to charge it, when it dies it stops tracking and throws my numbers off!!

I’m having the same problem. 100% charged in the morning 30% charged the next morning. Very annoying. I shouldn’t have to turn off all the features to get the battery to last. It’s at the stage where I’m just thinking of chucking it and going back to a normal watch or purchasing an Apple Watch.

I’ve recently had this problem hasn’t always been like this though battery used to last nearly a week, mines now lasting less than a day ☹️ I read the advice above but that advise Is based on the Fitbit not charging which isn’t the case, mine charges absolutely fine it’s on 100% then just dies throughout the day, I’m really disappointed as I love my Fitbit!

Exactly the same thing started happening to my daughter’s charge HR 2. The battery used to last about a week on a full charge. Now, when she charges it, it charges to 100% but battery is dead at the end of the day. Still looking for a resolution.

Same here. Use to get a week or more out of a full charge. Now I get two days or less. Very frustrating.  For the price of these I would have thought it would last longer than 2-1/2 years. It seems it spends more time hooked to the charger than it does on my wrist.

Same. This happened as of today.

Although, I did notice about a week ago that it stopped tracking my heart rate and one of the lights underneath are off. But all of a sudden today, the battery went super fast and was dead by the time I got home from work...even though I fully charged it last night.

Can anything be done? I hate having to get a new Fitbit every 2 years.

I have been experiencing the battery non charging issues also and now my charge 2 won’t chsrge at all. I have tried all of your suggestions and nothing. When I plug it in to chsrge it had the diamond shape and a series of numbers then the screen goes blank. On occasion it shows the charging symbol and sometimes it shows (after a few hours of changing ( the full battery sign. When I remove it from the charger it is dead. Mine’s only a few years old too. All very disappointing!

My battery life has inexplicably taken a dramatic hit this last couple of weeks. It used to easily last me a week and now it barely lasts a day. No change in how I use it. Very disappointing. Thought I'd see if there was any troubleshooting available but sadly seems to be a fault as so many people seem to be having this issue. I found the fitbit customer service great when I needed to have the strap replaced but I'm getting the feeling that it might not be so easy for this fault based on what others are saying... fingers crossed someone has a solution!

This is not helpful when nothing has changed on our end.....

I see many many people have the same issue -- works fine and then all of a sudden battery life diminishes after a day or 2.

Is it a faulty production?

Any solution if the charging source has not changed nor the way it is used?

Pardon if this has been answered and I'm not seeing the post.

I think it is a manufacturer issue. I ended up buying a new one, but I was not happy about having to do so. I am likely to switch to Garmin next, which is a shame, because I really like Fitbit and I enjoy the challenges with friends, but I hate having to replace it every year and a half.

Is it a battery problem?

Over time rechargable batteries do not charge as well.

Would replacing the battery help ? Is it possible ?

After denials of an issue with an app update and no help from Fitbit support plus ghosting by Fitbit “experts” of conversations in the community, my Charge 2 seems to be working properly after the latest app update.
