My Charge 2 completely turns off after I take off of the charger. I noticed last night that it was completely off and assumed that the battery had completely drained. I attached to the charger overnight and it was completely charged when I took it off. It went completely dead after about 5 minutes. I put it back on the charger again for about 15 minutes. Again, it was completely charged and then went dead after about 15 minutes. Any thoughts?

Same problem here. It fully charged and then only keeps it for about 5 minutes. Started happening a couple days ago. This is my 3rd Fitbit and it seems all of them only last about 2 yrs.

Hi there,
same problem here.
It was working fine on Tuesday.
Charged it as usual just before going to bed, so fully charged.
In the morning went to sync with phone - completely dead (pressing button and tapping screen had no effect).
Connected it up to the charger and it booted up and showed that the battery was completely depleted!
Left it on charge for at least 2 hours to ensure it was fully charged.
All looked good, but noticed a couple of hours later that it was completely dead again.
Repeated this again to make doubly sure, but with same result.
Dug out the box - receipt shows that it is now 28 months old.
Been a Fitbit user for many years now - this is my 4th fitbit device - previously had Surge and original Charge x 2.
Expected better than this from the Charge 2 HR, but would appear to be the norm which is frankly disappointing.

Did you do the most recent update? I see there’s a separate forum for all the problems after the update!
i has this identical problem after updating my old Flex two years ago. I’m betting the Charge 2 is being discontinued. I tried to replace my flex with an identical model, was told they didn’t sell them any longer, offered me a whopping 25% discount on a NEW model.
i wasn’t impressed with this business model, so I won’t be doing this update. I’m sure Fitbit is up to that same trick.
Makes me sad sad as I love my fitbit!

Hi Cullzer,
Yes, I had spotted all the posts about various issues - very concerning.
Fortunately my device is still on 22.55.2 .
It is weird how the battery has suddenly lost the ability to hold charge, that's not in line with the characteristics of NiMh cells. They usually start by needing to be charged more often with the length of battery life shortening gradually. In my case something has definitely changed for it to be working fine on Tuesday and then on Wednesday a fully charged battery to be completely depleted within 15 minutes. That would necessitate a serious current drain which would cause the battery to warm up significantly, but there is no noticeable temperature change.
Is it a battery issue, or a software/firmware issue?

Fitbits suck and its a common occurrence for them to suddenly fail as you can see across all the forums. If you're out of warranty they'll offer 25% off a new device, but don't offer to try to repair, they only have their minimalist troubleshooting guides. I would recommend going to a different brand if you are going to replace.
