Charge 2 change handedness setting

Every answer I have found so far explaining where/how to see or update the wrist placement (left/right) and dominant hand says to set it up in the Account section, or to go to the Today screen and tap Devices. The today screen has no such icon, and Account only offers a way to manage ... Account data. In fact, I've yet to find a way to get to ANY settings that are done at Setup -- which is pretty frustrating, not to mention inconvenient if you ever need to change one.

Hello @mojo1160 and welcome to the Community.  Fitbit redesigned the app last year.  Unfortunately, there are many outdated posts that need to be archived.  Please do the following:

  • Tap on the device/battery level in the upper left of your mobile app
  • Tap on your Charge 2 tile
  • Look for the handedness and wrist options at the top of the option list.

Sense 2, Luxe, Aria 2 | iOS | Mac OS

Take a look at the Fitbit help site for further assistance and information.

Thanks! I figured I might have a problem with outdated documentation, but getting a refurbished device seemed prudent (and greener) for someone with a documented history of giving up on fitness plans. (It’s a work in progress.)

I eventually found a way to see/set it, it was just not where I expected to find it. (And of course it was correct anyway…)

@mojo1160   Your additional explanation helps me understand why you asked your question.  I want to add some information so you are prepared for issues with your Charge 2.  The Charge 2 is an older, discontinued model.  If your refurbished model is back to its original factory settings, you can't update it if you get an update notice.  Fitbit removed firmware updates from the older models.  The battery is also old -- older rechargeable batteries don't behave like fresh ones.  You will probably need to recharge your Fitbit more often than expected.  Your Fitbit can't give you a battery health status like your phone can.

We are all works in progress.  😉

Thanks again! The battery was supposed to be replaced as part of the refurbishing but if it needs charging more often I can live with that. It’s a “starter home”, and if this actually is going to be the time a program “sticks”, I will move on to something newer. But I have far too many grand plans in my history to try and make up for motivation with excuses about equipment.
