Charge 2 charger is junk- fails to make contact reliably

I love everything about my Charge 2 EXCEPT the charger.  What a flimsy piece of plastic junk! Twice now I have found that my Charge 2 is no longer making contact when I retrieve it from the charger in the morning, so the battery is even lower than when I plugged it into the wall the night before.

Every time I plug the Charge 2 into the charger, or rather try to embrace it with the lightweight plastic clips, I have to jiggle it around until I see the charging symbol.  Then I carefully set it down and of course, that's only a momentary indicator, so you can't tell if it's charging anymore or not.  By the time I check it in the morning, it is no longer making contact and the battery hasn't charged.

Is there a way to use the app to check whether it's actually still charging?  Frankly, other than worry about display persistence, I don't understand why Fitbit doesn't just leave the charging icon on.  Too bad Fitbit cut corners on the design of the charger. 😞

1 - You should not leave it on the charger overnight, especially on a regular basis.  The Charge 2 is fully charged in 1.5 to 2 hours.

2 - Yes, there is a way to check, and it should be done each time you put it on the charger. When you snap the charger clip over the back of the Charge 2, the tracker should briefly vibrate, indicating it is connected. The display should show the battery icon with hashed lines showing the current charge status of the battery. If it is does not show the hashed lines, the charger clip is not properly seated.

In response to point (2).

That is exactly what I have done- I see the battery icon and it disappears after 3 seconds like it's supposed to.  But what I'm telling you is that the charger connection is so delicate that it shifts in the gentle act of setting it down on the table and is no longer connected.  Tapping the screen to see the icon again is no guarantee because even that action is enough to disconnect the Charge 2 from the pins, the charger is that bad.

@FlowerFan, I have not experienced that problem with my charger adapter, which has been in use since last August. If you believe the charger is defective, and not junk, you need to contact Fitbit Support to see if they will provide a replacement for it.

Accurate description of my experience. Poor design. I have to keep fiddling with it and set it back down very gently and then still goes off track half the time and have to start over.

You are fortunate.  There are many posters here who have had the exact same experience.

Most modern chargers are designed to be smart enough to shut off after charging their respective devices.  I suspect it's the same with Fitbit so there is no harm in leaving it overnight.  Perhaps you can dig out the specs. on the charger to verify or dispute this.
