I have a fairly new charge 2 that's been dead of battery for a week or so and I finally plugged it in but it's not showing the charging screen on the watch or being found on my phone. It's been plugged in for an hour and half, should have some juice by now : /

I have the exact same problem. One day I woke up and my Charge 2 was dead. I have cleaned the contacts, positioned the charger correctly, pressed and held the button in repeatedly and there is no response...no vibration, to indicate charging. The screen does not respond. My Charge 2 has not been mistreated or had contact with water or any other damage and this happens? It's of course barely out of warranty now and my only recourse from Fitbit Support is a 25% discount so I can buy another one!?! I would never have thought my Fitbit would die after one year and 4 months (not even that long). I could understand this after 5 years or so but not so soon. It sounds like this is a common problem and NOT due to normal wear and tear. This is a bigger issue and should be fixable by Fitbit without the consumer having to buy another watch! Extremely disappointing and I will not be buying another one.

If my charge 2 is completely dead I find it might take 30-60 minutes on the chargerBefore I see any sign of life.

I put my Charge 2 in the charger over night and still nothing. How does it die like this for no apparent reason?? This is my issue and I’ve had it only 1 yr and less than 4 months. How does this happen? And Fitbit does nothing except give me a 25% discount on select models. Another Charge 2 will cost $100 I shouldn’t have to pay for another Fitbit so soon. They are not owning up to this defect which is beyond normal wear and tear warranty

Batteries can die, lithium batteries don't like to be left uncharged for long periods of time and start to self destruct, but why do they go overnight? I'm not sure.
I have one friend who's did the same, and others that theirs are still going strong.

I'm sure that batteries can die as you said, but my Fitbit was never 'not charged' as long as I owned it (less than a year and a half which is what makes me so angry now). My Charge 2 would also give me notices that it needed charged. This time, it never gave a notice and then was completely unresponsive in the morning, literally overnight. So, why, that is the big question and why I can't get more help from Fitbit. It's not acceptable to have something fail that quickly.

Was fully charged yesterday, but woke up to a very dead FB that won’t charge. I cleaned it. Nothing. Purchased January of 2017

I gave up trying to fix my Fitbit; just bought a new one. Any reimbursement coming?

Had the same issue. What worked for me was resetting it (holding the power button for 4 seconds) while it was in the charger. Booted up properly after that. Hope it helps

On my wife's Charge 2 I think this may be what happened, she didn't charge it for a few months and now it won't charge. Just spoke with Support, and since it's 18 months old they won't replace it, instead offered a 25% discount on a new Fitbit though they won't apply it to a Charge 3 though that's the closest thing they have to what she had. I'd even take a Charge 2 like she had at 25% discount or a new one since this is a known issue with the technology.
Very discouraging @ Fitbit...

I tried doing that and everything else suggested and nothing worked.

agreed! same thing happened to me. My battery was in good shape and I did all the measures to ensure it lasted longer. anyways, i misplaced my fitbit charge 2 and couldn't find it for 3 weeks. I finally found it and was so happy as I missed it.Of course it was dead so I charged it to about a medium charge. I Wore it to bed as I missed being able to track my sleep. I woke up and it was dead and I haven't been able to charge it since!! (that was 2 weeks ago) I've tried two different chargers, I've cleaned it, tried different USB ports, and plugged it into the wall of course. I contacted customer support and They said because I am out of warranty, (i've had the tracker 2 years exactly) they will offer 25% a new one but no replacement. I didn't spend 200$ on a smart watch plus 60$ for the band (the one it comes in sucks) only for it to die for no reason 2 years later.
i've exhausted all my options and the fitbit company doesn't seem to care so I will not be purchasing a new one, despite their "discount". i know two other coworkers that have had the same experience. Where I once recommended Fitbit to family, friends and coworkers, I now will absolutely be not recommending it to anyone.

Thanks for this! My Charge 2 died on me this morning... I started to think of the worst case scenario. I followed your steps in cleaning the surface areas and plugged the Charge 2 into the laptop with the cable. After holding down the button for a fews seconds, my Charge 2 roared to life!
Thanks.

Thank you! Sorted it. But why are there always problems with Fitbit? It seems there are a lot of design faults. It's frustrating.

I am also having the same issues with everybody else. My Fitbit Charge 2 looks like it was charged to the maximum and once I remove it from the power source it drops to dead and completely dead after a few moments. I tried everything you suggested, but nothing.
Best thing I do is to advertise my problem to my gym, witch has over 20.000 members....

My one is 0% flat and it’s been 2 hours on the charger already. When I touch any button it shows 0%. Please advise

Does the usb charger have two or three pins ? Cause my Fitbit charge 2 isnt working

Don’t know why you are asking, but mine has two pins!
Hope I helped...
TIP: Till I am totally sure about how my buttery’s replacement went, I will not be able to say anything. But you also can buy the whole battery replacement kit at ebay.com for around 12$. Seems that there are so many complaints about the Charge2 that someone clever decided to make money out of it.
