Charge 2 died all of the sudden and the screen is totally blank

The Fitbit was charged fully on Friday but last night it showed a flat battery icon and just died. The app shows a full battery. The screen is completely black. It won’t recharge at all.  My charge 2 is 17 months old. Disappointed. Any suggestions?

Hey @Sueallens, welcome to the Community! Let me give you a hand on this. Try to restart your Charge 2 by following instructions:

1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
2. Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the port.
3. Make sure the button on your tracker is aligned with the button opening on the charging cable. You'll know the connection is secure when the tracker vibrates and you see a battery icon on your tracker's display. Your Charge 2 will begin charging.
4. Press and hold the button on your tracker for four seconds. When you see the Fitbit logo and the tracker vibrates, this means the tracker has restarted.
5. Unplug your tracker from the charging cable.

Then make sure that your Charge 2 is actually charging and take a look at the tips in this post to make it's battery last longer.

Let me know how it goes!

Same issue with my Fitbit. Went through the prescribed remedies and it’s still dying hours after stating its fully charged. Very frustrating.

Can you please escalate my situation?

Thanks.

I have the same problem.

My Charge 2 started displaying gibberish screens first (for about 5 minutes) and then completely refused to display anything. The sensors seem to blink and there was occasional buzz but charging etc made no difference 😞 It seems to be nearing complete death by the minute. Perhaps 2.5 years is normal life span?

My Charge 2 did the exact same thing yesterday. I charged before leaving for work and I checked the time in the morning and a short while later it wasn’t responding. I’ve tried re charging, cleaning the contacts, charging different locations, pressing the button for 4 seconds, 10 sec, 12 sec, multiple repeats.  It’s not responding at all. The most frustrating part is I received an email today offering a deal on purchasing a new Fitbit, this doesn’t seem like a coincidence.

Same issue here. Fully charged it last night and it shut off around 5:05am today (basing that on when it stopped tracking my sleep since I slept until 6:45). Charged it up this morning again and was dead within five minutes. Did another charge and reset a couple hours later and got the same result.

Just spent ten minutes getting the run around from FitBit support person.  The warranty is only one year for Charge 2 so too bad so sad.  The rep explained how much they want me to stay in the FitBit family an offered me a coupon for purchase of another model.  This is really disappointing that a $100 device is expected to last ONE YEAR, two at best!  I'm not sure I planning on staying with this family if these devices are "disposable" and simply becomes a contributor to electronic trash.

Not happy, very not happy.

I've got the exact same issue, the Fitbit is completely dead all of a sudden, and no amount of cleaning/charging is making any difference! I've had nothing but issues with the device since I got it back in December.

My HRCharge 2 Fitbit went blank about a month ago. I followed restarting instructions and it started up again great. Now it stopped again. When I try the restart instructions I get strange random bars of light, not the Fitbit logo! Now what. I loved my Fitbit. I had the first HR FITBIT and the band fell apart. You fixed that problem and now this is happening with my HR 2!  HELP!

Yeah, me too.  Seems like a common issue.  Screen started having lines through display, then showed backwards display, then went blank.  It charges, syncs, updates my stats, but nothing shows on my watch.  I tried changing watch face and restarting per other instructions.  No result.  Can anyone help?

Hi HeydyF

I bought 3 Fitbit Charge 2, in 2018 within 3 months.  The 1st Charge 2 died after charging and Syncing three months ago, and I tried your method; it does not work.  I eventually got a bought a brand new Charge 3, thinking I have over-used it (wore it almost 24 hours minus charging).  However, the same thing happened to the 2nd Charge 2 (my dad is wearing that).  He did not wear it that often and I bought his latest.  Now I am concerned that it may happen to my mom's as well.  Is it because of the newest upgrade?  It cans till sync initially but the screen was blank, then it can't sync but can still vibrate when we contact to the power supply.

Would appreciate your advice, please.
