Charge 2 died all of the sudden and the screen is totally blank

The Fitbit was charged fully on Friday but last night it showed a flat battery icon and just died. The app shows a full battery. The screen is completely black. It won’t recharge at all.  My charge 2 is 17 months old. Disappointed. Any suggestions?

Good day

My fitbit charge 2 has completed died. It was working last night, I took it off when I went to bed and when I placed it on my arm today I realized the screen is off, and the sensory is not on. I plugged it into the charger, however nothing has helped. I have followed the instructions suggested, however no change. Please can someone help me. I love my fitbit watch.

Thank you

Hello, my Fitbit charge 2 has done the same exact thing as everyone else has has died. I have tried the given instructions and still no luck. The ironic thing is back when I first got a Fitbit charge 2 I had one that did the same exact thing within a week and a half of having it. I thought I just had a defective product and returned it to the store. Now it sounds like there's just a known issue with Fitbit and they don't want to issue a recall. I would think Fitbit would want to stand behind their product?

They have not replied to anyone.  I guess it may fortunate that I only replace my dad's Charge 2 with Charge 3 and mine with Samsung Galaxy Watch.  Hopefully, my mom's charge 2 can last longer and I shall see what to replace with.

I agree! They did give me a discount on a new watch when I complained.

Hi there,

I purchased the FitBit Charge 2 for my wife around 2 years ago. It is now dead and the instructions do not work, can't start the FitBit Charge 2... Time to move to Garmin if there is a life span to them.

Same thing - I'm on my 4th dead Fitbit since 2014.  I also bought 4 for family members early on, and all died within a year or two as well.  You'd think I'd learn, but I  bought into the community and kept spending.  I've talked to customer service regarding the issues - same as what you all are experiencing.  My latest one died over the weekend and I tried all the tricks that never work.  Someone here will probably escalate this and I'll probably get the usual 25% off coupon offer if I buy a new device at retail price - big deal.  I'm done spending on this company.  I'm looking elsewhere for a device with a reputation for quality and suggest others do, as well.

Fitbit was a $46 stock – now it’s a $6 stock. I don’t think we’re the only ones unhappy, and doesn’t look like the company’s going to change, so not sure they’ll even be around in a year. You asked “Where to from here?” I’d say look into an Apple or Samsung watch if you need a tracker. I’ve just quit using a tracker. Discovered that I was satisfied with 15k steps a day because that was the goal. I’m going much farther than I used to without the tracker. Sounds counter-intuitive, but that’s my experience. Best of luck!

Google bought Fitbit in November so I think the Charge 4 will be the last Fitbit branded tracker.
I have had 3 Charges and the battery is the key component but just quits charging after about 2 years.  No amount of resetting brings it back.
my wife had another Fitbit tracker with a known issue. We were told to send it to their service Center.  Got it back 8 weeks later.  8 week turn around for a $149 product.  I have gotten new Refridgerator’s replaced faster.
so if Google helps with the reliability and service issues it may in fact be a good thing.

My fitbit has died. I have done the reset and still nothing. I get the symbol and then the numbers

22 58 00 and then it goes blank again. It won't charge at all. It did this over the weekend, I did the reset and it worked another 2 days. Now nothing. Does the battery just eventually die and then it needs to be replaced. What is the estimated life of a fitbit charge 2?

Any and all information is appreciated. Thank you.

Yes – and anywhere from a week to a year. Don’t replace or “upgrade” it – the Charge 3 is just as bad. Get a different tracker like the Samsung or Apple watch.

Thank you. I figured that was the case. Unfortunate because I did find it easy to use and helpful. Thanks for the heads up on the charge 3. I appreciate your prompt reply.

I will still get a Charge 4 however.they are the best activity tracker for
the $$ .. I don't like the big clunky watches that are out there.I don't
seem to hit the Charges on workout equipment like I do a watch. so 2-3
years for $149 or less if you catch a sale,,still a good deal.I also have
the fitbit scale, and I like the integration of weight and bodymass tracking
in the same place as steps and stairs.

My Charge 2 has also recently died.  I’ve had it since Nov.  ‘17.  It has helped me change my life!

first my heart rate screen wouldn’t show activity, although time spent in my training zone did, which is weird.

Two days later, it died completely.  I attach it to the charger and get two green lights,  it not flashing, and then within minutes nothing.

thanks for any help!
