Charge 2 doesn't record sleep or receive notifications

My fitbit will only record my steps after I charge my fitbit & restart my laptop & phone. It won't record any other information.  Every few weeks it will record a couple of nights of sleep.  I stopped receiving text messages months ago which I can deal with but I like knowing the information I bought the fitbit for.  I have unpaired it several times & am getting very frustrated.  I shouldn't have to buy a new fitbit every year in order to see the data.

I also think it's really strange and crappy that in order to contact fitbit I have to use Twitter because I don't have an account.

Thanks for any help.

@redrose55 Welcome to the Community

Let me help you with your Charge 2 not recording your sleep or receiving notifications. Your device will start recording sleep after it detects an hour of inactivity. If you have a light sleep or move too much then this may difficult your sleep detection. Additionally you can try wearing your device on your non dominant hand to decrease the amount of movement it is subjected to. Finally you can restart your device. You can also manually log your sleep time. You can read more about sleep detection here.

Regarding notifications please try refreshing the link between your phone and your tracker by doing the following:

  1. Go to your phone's bluetooth settings and remove all devices listed there.
  2. Restart your phone and restart your device
  3. Check that no battery saving app/feature on your phone is affecting your Fitbit app.
  4. Also, on an Android device, check that your app has the necessary permissions (settings > apps > Fitbit > permissions) and make sure bluetooth and location services (GPS) are on.
  5. You can find troubleshooting instructions here.

Finally you don't need twitter to contact our Support team. There are several channels that you can check here.

Let me know how it goes.
