Charge 2 => complete discharge overnight?

My Fitbit Charge 2 (purchased 03/27/2019) seems to have completely discharged itself overnight.  It was charged yesterday afternoon and was working normally yesterday evening.  It was synched last night @8:36 PM and at that time showed "battery full".  As always, I wore it to bed last night; this morning @ ~6 AM when I awoke it would show nothing on the display and there were no green lights on the back.    I've plugged the charger into the computer and attached the Charge 2 to the charger. The display briefly showed some numbers and then showed a drained battery icon. 

How does this device drain from 100% to ZERO overnight????

Charged it via the computer USB port => battery icon showed a full charge => put it on and within 15 minutes it was DOA again.
