Have you restarted the tracker, removed the tracker from the phones bluetooth, restart, better yet shutdown the unknown phone you have?
Yes we know it isn't setting up, the tracker has a sync problem and is not communicating with the app. We need to fix the sync problem, then the tracker will setup.

Anytime an app is updated and fails yo work properly a phone restart should be the first thing to do.
Glad your back on track

I was having this same problem, and tried everything from restarting the Bluetooth and my phone all day long, to uninstalling/reinstalling the app. It FINALLY worked when I had it plugged in to charge, tried to sync, and held down the button at the same time... Not sure if that's the reason it finally worked, but I say give it a try.

...I may have spoke too soon....it gave me the 4 digit number to enter and started trying to connect, but never did. Can't even get it to give the 4 digit number now...

@The_Danimal plugging the Charge 2 in then holding the in the button is how a restart is done.
As for the 4 digit code, why is it giving you this? Are you trying to sync as your post suggests, or are you trying to setup the Charge 2? There should be no need to do a setup unless the tracker was removed from the account .Removing a tracker will only add more problems when there is a communication problem.

Aha! Mine finally synced again when I checked that checkbox that allows other Bluetooth devices to see your phone.

@KelvinHew was the Charge 2 connected to your Fitbit account before updating the phone?
The user does not connect a tracker to the phone, thevuser, through the Fitbit app connects a Fitbit tracker to the users Fitbit account. Then the Fitbit app connects the tracker to the phone.
If the tracker is still connected to your Fitbit account, there is no reason to set it up.
My question is, has the tracker been removed from your Fitbit account?

I have the exact same issue. Ever since my phone updates recently, I can only sync occasionally. I have tried everything suggested and still it only syncs when it wants. This is so frustrating because I love challenges! Is there a solution?

Not knowing what mystery phone model we are referring to @Loriebeth60, I'm not sure if I can add any steps to try

I have a Samsung Galaxy 7 that I have been using with my Charge 2 since Dec 2017. The two will no longer sync rendering my Fitbit useless. I've tried restarting my Fitbit. I've tried restarting my phone several times. This is to no effect. Any suggestions?

Try clearing the Fitbit app cache, phone settings - apps - Fitbit - Storage - clear Cache
Update Fitbit, maybe remove Fitbit and install fresh copy

Tracking on my Charge 2 continued to decay. My ultimate fix was to replace it with a Charge 4. Like the new features and be able to again use thing that had stopped working before.
