The sleep function omitted a day (no data) then worked/recorded a day and now is not working again.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Lgmbs! Are you still not receiving your sleep stages?

One thing I recommend is switching your heart rate setting to 'On' instead of 'Auto.' If the heart rate setting is set to 'On' your heart rate will always be active. Keep in mind that you need to record heart rate to calculate sleep stages. If you were to turn off heart rate, your sleep logs will go back to the classic style.

In addition, I think it's great that you update the Fitbit app to the latest version (iOS and Android). I always recommend keeping both the tracker and the Fitbit app up to date with the latest versions.

If you're not yet seeing Sleep Stages with your Charge 2 device, I recommend double checking the following:

  • For any of the nights you were expecting to see Sleep Stages, did you ever click on the "Begin Sleep Now" or "Add Sleep Log" functions within the Fitbit App?
    • This is important to note because your Charge 2 uses auto-detection to track Sleep Stages; so there's no need to try and remember to click on anything before falling asleep!
  • Do you have at least 3 consecutive hours of sleep?
    • This is important to note because you typically won't see sleep stages if you are waking up multiple times through out the night or taking short naps.
  • Your Charge 2 is tracking and syncing heart rate data.
    • This is important because Sleep Stages uses a combination of your movement and heart-rate patterns.

You can also find plenty of additional information within this post.

Give this a shot and let me know if the issue persists!

Thank you for the quick response! I ❤️ love Fitbit! My Fitbit/app is calculating sleep times again. Not sure why - I did go in and change to On instead of Auto. This happened once before but regulated itself automatically.
Thanks for info.

Hi Maria,

My sleep stages haven’t been working the last couple days. I have checked all the suggested settings from multiple forum posts. My heart rate is set to auto. However, I see no break in the feed for my rate. So I feel that can’t be the issue. One thing I know I did just before this stopped working was setup the Female Health Settings. So I wondered if that might have caused it.  Any other suggestions?

With the updated Fitbit app and firmware, I cannot find any way to set the heart rate settings to change from Auto to On.

My Fitbit is giving me “simplified” sleep data because it cannot detect consistent heart rate, though it seems to do fine during the day. It worked very well for a couple of years and now is unreliable. Is there a contact that might need cleaning or something?
