My Fitbit Charge 2 keeps switching from notifications on/off and vibrating and wasting my battery. I got for Christmas almost 2 years ago but it was replaced within the last year due to another issue.

Welcome on board @kberzelius!  Thanks for the information provided. Since your tracker got stuck, I'd recommend following these steps to make sure you're properly restarting your Charge 2:

  1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the port.
  3. Make sure the button on your tracker is aligned with the button opening on the charging cable. You’ll know the connection is secure when the tracker vibrates and you see a battery icon on your tracker’s display.
  4. Press and hold the button on your tracker for 4 seconds. When you see the Fitbit logo and the tracker vibrates, the tracker restarted.
  5. Unplug your tracker from the charging cable.

Let us know if the restart does the trick!

If you press and hold the button on the Charge 2 it will switch between notifications on / off and vibrate so it sounds to me like the button may be stuck in. Does it seem to move freely?

Best Answer

I plugged it and charged it. I also reset it. Now the screen is frozen on the battery icon.

I have done the steps above a couple of times and it helps for the first problem (notifications on/off). Now it shows the battery level screen but it doesn't move. It seems it is frozen on the battery level screen.

I have restarted per the steps but it is immediately recurring and the screen is blank. I can't  see any display as before.

Thanks for restarting your Charge 2 as advised guys @KOFIK and @kberzelius! Would you mind doing the same process again and see if the battery comes away and the blank screen too?

Looking forward to your response!

Yes, it appears to. It’s almost like the electronic bit is stuck more than the physical/ mechanical bit (if that’s possible??)

Mine has been doing this for 3 days now, have tried resetting it about 20 times now and as soon as it resets it starts doing it again. My battery life is lasting me 10 minutes now due to this issue.

I am having the same issue, has this been resolved?  Tried resetting, still toggling between notifications on and off, reset shows the battery charge level, a brief 'normal' date screen and then, back to going between on/off notifications

Best Answer

No, it continued to do it no matter what I tried. Eventually I gave it up and just bought a Charge 3.

thanks, since it's virtually impossible to get much support on this except for the good people in the community, I am going to start shopping for a new device, I have tried all the solutions posted am running out of patience and as everyone is stating, it's just not happening.

This is what I did! I went out and brought the flex so didn’t have to worry about a button getting stuck.

This still doesn't work.

Same for me.  I think this is Fitbit's way of getting you to buy a new one.  Mine stopped recording HR first, even though green light flashed.  Then it started rapidly scrolling through all the screens, turning features on/off in rapid succession - notifications, alarm,  each time buzzing.  Became more frequent and then just went blank.  Charged it up and just shows battery icon which rapidly loses power.

I had to replace mine with same issues.

Facing the exact same issue, any resolution possible?

The steps you mentioned haven't worked

Best Answer

This unfortunately did not work. I was able to reset it, but the issue persisted as soon as I disconnected the charger.

It seems like, when it isn't charging, it believes the button is being held down. In fact, if I do hold the button the constant toggling stops. Unfortunately, keeping the button held down is impractical, so the device is unusable in its current state.

Do you have any other suggestions? I'd like this to be fixed.
