Charge 2 not detecting sleep stages

Is Fitbit truly comfortable about claiming its devices can monitor sleep patterns given the number of issues raised on the various forums? It seems to me like a step too far for the technology in the various units, and I feel rather cheated in having bought into your claims.

@simon1066  Welcome! Thanks for being part of our Community! Sorry to hear that your Charge 2 isn't detecting your sleep stages. Thank you for troubleshooting this issue. As you may know you won't get sleep stages for the following reasons:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight.
  • If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your device to bed). For more information on automatic sleep tracking, see How do I track my sleep?
  • If you slept for less than 3 hours.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

I suggest you clean the back of your device with cotton and rubbing alcohol and restart it. Also check these tips to improve the heart rate reading on your device. Some members have commented that using a sport wristband helps secure the tracker so it gets a good heart rate reading while sleeping.

Let me know how it goes.

This has never worked on mine either. I feel the same way.

@Yvonne2017 Welcome! Thanks for being part of our Community!

Sorry to hear that you aren't seeing sleep stages. I would like to confirm if you tried the suggestions in my previous post? Including cleaning the back of the tracker and restarting it? This should help ensure your device is getting an accurate HR reading that is vital for sleep stages.

I look forward to your reply.
