Charge 2 not displaying heart rate

My heart rate stopped tracking this morning. Has not shown a number since about 8 am today ( now 8:50 pm). I have tried charging it, wiping the back with a lens cloth, turning heart rate off on the app and syncing and then back to auto and sync again. Nothing. I called customer support and had a rude and incompetent individual and eventually gave up on the call. I have never had bad customer support before and have been a Fitbit user for years. I am very frustrated right now. I will have to call again but I am frustrated. Maybe it is time to try a different brand of tracker.

Similar issue HR stopped working on Fitbit Charge 2.  Everything else working fine. It has taken some of the joy out of my trail runs and snow shoveling now that I can’t see stats! =(. Reset or restart described above does not fix. Static resting HR of 48 displays but current reads _ _. What to do?

My charge 2 heartrate stopped working 4 days ago.  I have tried everything. I have turned the heart rate off and on, closed the app completely and reopened.  I have restarted it many times.  Nothing has worked. Any help would be appreciated.

The heart rate on my Fitbit has not been working for a week. I tried your suggestion if plugging it in and holding the side button for four seconds. It worked! Thanks for the advice.

Try again to reset it. My ne started working again after about 4 weeks when
I tried the reset again. Attach it like normal to the charger and then
while it is attached press and hold the button in on the side until the
Fitbit logo appears. Leave it on the charger and don’t remove it for at
least 30 minutes ( this step may not be necessary but it is what I did when
it worked).
Try it about once a week until it works again.
I hope it will come back on like mine did.

I’ve tried the solutions posted on the forum but still not working. Seems to be stuck on resting heart rate and the display is showing -  -

I have re-started also and no heart rate - is there a way I could have inadvertently turned it off?

I'm having this same problem! Incredibly frustrating. I've also had mine about that same amount of time. Time for a new one? Hopefully the new one doesn't break this fast... Kind of disappointing

Thank you for your reply and the very helpful description of the restart
process. I have done this several times now but alas there is still no
heart rate tracking just - - under the empty heart outline. I do get the
Fitbit symbol and some numbers so I know I have successfully restarted. The
loss of heart rate tracking has also affected sleep stages tracking. So I
think something is broken in my tracker. I have had it for about 18 months
I believe. I have owned so many Fitbit products over the years coming up on
5 years continuous use. I do like them. I just wish they would last longer.

I kept resetting it and it finally started working again. I think they’re designed to only work for a couple of years to force you to but another one.

I am having the same problem with my Charge 2 not capturing my heart rate.  It seemed to happen right after I was somehow logged out of the App.  For the first time since I've had my Charge 2, when I opened the App this morning, I had been logged out and had to log in again.  Since then, it has recorded no heart rate and just shows "--".  Both green lights are on though.  I'm wondering whether anyone else was logged out before they lost their heart rate?

After resetting it a few times it finally start working again. Just keep resetting it until it starts to work again. Hope that helps

Hi All,

Just adding what ended up solving this issue for me in case it can help other people:

  1. Log on to fitbit.com
  2. Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner
  3. Click on 'device settings'
  4. Scroll down, and click on 'heart rate'
  5. Change the settings to 'off'
  6. Synchronize with your mobile device.
  7. Change the settings to 'on'
  8. Synchronize with your mobile device.
  9. Change the settings to 'auto'
  10. Synchronize with your mobile device.

Hope this helps!

Fitbit support email asked me to check two things before going through
these steps:

1. If the green lights on the back of the fitbit are still blinking.
2. If the fitbit still vibrates when put into the charger

Hope this helps.

Only one green light is on.

Did the reset three times.

Turned the settings to off, then on.

Still not working, though.

Same problem here.  Stopped recording HR Friday at 2PM.  I logged out and back into the app, deleted and re downloaded the app, removed and reloaded the device, have reset it numerous times and nothing works. The green lights on the back are both flashing furiously.  The device displays "__ BPM" and when you tap it the display shows the last recorded BPM and says "Resting". Just before it stopped working it was losing the Bluetooth connection every night for 3 nights.  Had to the reset the device every morning. All the reloading fixed the Bluetooth issues, but then the HR stopped.
