Charge 2 not recording my runs accurately

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi I've had my charge 2 for around 2 years, i run around 5 days a week and my charge has always been fairly accurate with my distance and average run/ miles per minute time. But the last couple of days on routes I've done for weeks/months it's recording my distance and average mile times as a lot shorter and slower than they have ever been. A regular 3 mile run (9.53p/mile) is now a 2.75 mile run (11.39 p/mile). Also yesterday a measured 5.25 mile run I have done on many occasions is now showing as 4.46 miles?? Completely confused as to why suddenly it's changed. I ran last Saturday with my husband we did 6 miles he records his runs on Strava and our runs measured the same, Tuesday mines was fine but yesterday and today they're out. Can anyone help? Thanks

I am having the same problem with my charge 2. I ran 10 miles which came up as 9.27 miles...have you found the solution?

Thanks

I've added Strava to phone and have strapped to arm ..it's a pain tbh..I want my fitbit. Last night's run also came up short

I'm charging up my Garmin for tomorrow's run so I can get a more accurate reading and my running buddy has her fit bit to so I confirm my mileage with her. But we really shouldn't have to use these other devices.

Very true..I'm going to Fitbit to report as mine is only a year old...it does record all my walks at correct miles...

I'm posting this for my wife she has the Charge 2 and it has the latest firmware version 22.55.02.  it is only recording about 65% of her steps she runs/walks frequently on the treadmill and knows the approximate steps there should be.  It has been way off the last 2-3 weeks.

Hi there
I went into chat on Fitbit I suggest you do the same ..my reply was too complicated for me to write here...not sure I'm happy, and I've not used for a run since...my walking has all been accurately recorded it's just the runs. .I've had to use Strava on my phone and that's a pain but accurate. Good luck

Most of my advice was changing my running stride on Fitbit and to be aware that GPS is dependent on where you are etc etc

I'm having the same problem with my Charge 2, similar age to yours. After major surgery I need to walk, and record the distance I walk each day, but a walk of at least 600 steps completed 10 minutes ago was recorded by my Charge 2 as 125 steps!  Any suggestions, anyone?

Hello, I've contacted them this morning and they've told me to re-set my tracker which I've done, then I'll be running tomorrow so I've got a direct email to the guy who I was in contact with to see if this has helped. I'm not holding our much hope but I'll give it a go.

My advice was to reset my tracker and get back to them after my next run to see if it's helped.

Good luck. I think I may just try a reset anyway. It’s big much use to me as if is.

Thank you. I think I’ll just re-set and see what happens. It can’t be any worse than it is now, and until I can drive again in another couple of weeks I can’t take it into the local Apple store for guidance. Thanks for your help.

Same thing happening with mine.....get about 1 step for every 30-40 steps taken. Very frustrating. Did a factory reset but still nothing. With everyone having the same issue, I'm thinking it is an issue with Fitbit not all the trackers.....maybe this is the way they 'make' people upgrade their trackers (mine is just over a year and been seeing many saying they need to replace right after the year). I'll be looking at different trackers.....I don't like the idea of these updates screwing up the trackers just so we buy the next latest and greatest Fitbit product.....

I think you may be right! I’ve also tried a reset - no luck. It’s probably Apple’s built in obsolescence kicking in.  Infuriating! If I can’t get it working again properly - and it looks like it isn’t going to happen, I won’t replace it with another Apple device on principal. (For the same reasons I won’t replace my iPhone with another iPhone  when it inevitably starts to  fail. So wasteful!  So unnecessary! So annoying!
