Charge 2 not recording sleep stages

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

So I’ve had my Fitbit charge 2 for 2 1/2 years and it has always recorded sleep stages. For the last 10 days it doesn’t record the sleep stages. I’ve rebooted using the charge cord numerous times. I’ve plugged in and rebooted from my computer on two separate times. I’ve also changed the heart settings  from “auto” to “on”. I’ve even switched arms. I’m wearing correctly and not starting my sleep time. Can someone help me figure this out? What else can I do?

Hello @MagdalenefromNC let's open the Fitbit app and bring up one or more of the affected sleep records. Under the graph should be a reason for not seeing sleep stages. What is this reason?

Same problem. Only shows sleep and restlessness

So it’s telling me that it can’t get a consistent heart rate reading while I sleep. I’ve made sure it’s snug and I’ve experimented with moving it higher up on my arm and even switching arms.

same here, have reset several times, switched arms, and wearing same way as last two years. It  Shows times slept, but no stages since June 12. Sounds like a fitbit issue.  Says couldn't get a consistent heart rate reading.

Wearing it snug may keep the sensor from detecting the heart rate.

Fitbit suggests to have it loose enough for at least 1-2 fingers are able to slip behind the band.

How do you update to the latest version of the charge 2 software or reinstall the software on iPhone?

The way I’ve updated in the past is when I opened the app on my smart phone
it showed that there was an update available so I just clicked on update
and it took maybe 6 or 7 minutes to update and sync. I assume since I don’t
see an update that there are no new updates. I’ve never had an issue with
the app so I have never uninstalled and reinstalled the app on my iPhone so
I’m not sure if just deleting and then reinstalling would take care if any
issues you have.

Same as others. Can’t get consistent heart rate. Wearing same as always. Seems to be a Fitbit problem.

I have the latest update. Still did not record different sleep stages again
last night. I have tried everything. I know my heart rate is running higher
than several weeks ago due to change in medicine but that should not affect
the ability to monitor sleep patterns.

I posted just this morning about how sleep tracking on my Charge 2 has gotten flakey over the last few weeks (seems like it was mid-June). Some nights it doesn't record any sleep. Other nights, it truncates a couple of hours off the start or end of my night's sleep -- times when I know I'm asleep.

It's been doing a fine job of tracking sleep for a couple of years now. This is a new behavior. I updated to the latest firmware (22.55.02) a few days ago but that made no difference. Fingers crossed it's an easy/inexpensive fix.

So I want to tell you guys that I’m not sure what the problem is still....
I also have the latest update. What I do know is that I switched my Fitbit
with my best friend and she has the same Fitbit. (Also has latest update on
hers as well.) My Fitbit recorded her sleep stages so it’s not a filmware
issue. Her Fitbit that records her sleep stages with no trouble was unable
to record my sleep stages and gave the same reason as not able to detect
consistent heart rate. My fitbit does seem to record my heart rate fine so
why it can’t detect my sleep stages is confusing. Hopefully the developers
might have more onsite on this in the future.
