Charge 2 not tracking stairs

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Had this for 24 hours and had a charge hr which was perfectly accurate in counting flights of stairs. I've done the same amount (20) but it is only showing 3. Each flight is greater than 10 feet. How do I fix this?

@Brandisco I have the same problem, tracked all flights for about the first week or two but now zero each day. I've tried resetting it. I've tried altering my stride length but nothing... can someone please help?

Best Answer

@Brandisco there is a very small hole in the back top of the tracker, make sure that it is clear.

My Charge 2 was counting stairs when I was bought it for Christmas, but after 2 weeks it has stopped counting stairs, I have read all of the questions and suggestions to rectify the problem but nothing is working. It is clear that the charge 2 has some issues with counting floors due to the large number of issues reported. Please can you tell me what Fitbit is doing to resolve this issue and when my charge 2 will work as it is meant to.

Hello @Karen67, not knowing what has been tried im going to first suggest checking that hole mentioned above for any debree that might be blocking it.

If it looks ok then the reset process, should be done,  and to do it at least three times in a row.

If this doesn't help then lets set the tracker up as a replacement device.

Do an add device and chhise to replace your current tracker.

Please keep us informed

Hi rich,

I'm the same as Karen, I've tried all of the above and the triple reset but it's still not counting any floors. I think I too might need a replacement.

Cheers,
James

So it only registers if you go up 10' in altitude uninteruped... and only on the way up... and had to be regestering steps the entire time too. Thats very picky so it really only when it feels like it. And yes I have reset it and yes I dont hold the handrail with the fitbit side. Maybe I'll have to squat down before or fake an extra step or something as my steps at home are not an uninterupted 10'

Now consider this. I get flights of stairs riding my tractor plowing my flat driveway then I do actualy using the stairs in my home.

I have been a fitbit user for almost 4 yrs now.  I got a Charge 2 over the holidays.  I have 18 steps to the 2nd floor...which I would average 10x a day with my Ultra.  I have a bad knee....and need to lose weight and exercise to prepare for tkr later this year.  I walk slower going up the 18 stairs....and only sometimes register 1 flight per day now.  I side step going down so to be kinder to my bad knee where bone on bone.  I do think there is something different on fitbit's calculations.  I was hoping to use my HR2 stats so not to overdo it...but now I am beginning to think my Alta or One would be more accurate.  😞

I forgot to mention, I wear my Charge 2 on my left wrist (non dominant) hand and I do not use the handrail when going upstairs in my home.

Took my Charge 2 off and put on my dominant wrist going downstairs.  Used the hand railing with my left hand.  Went up the stairs again.....and the flight of stairs registered.

With bad knees, I don't want to NOT use the railing....but fitbit should be able to fix this issue IMHO.

Only way I have found to get my stairs at home to register is to have my arm down at the bottom and raise my hand as I get to the top as my stairs are only 8' high.

I've restarted my Charge 2 three times this morning. I've gone up the stairs 5 times and is says it's only been 2. This is a brand new unit and I've had issues all three days I've owned it (with different things). It also stops tracking my heartbeats at noon each day.

I'm starting to wonder if it isn't tracking stairs (again this morning), is it tracking ANYTHING correctly?

I'm a rock climber with a FitBit Charge 2, and I love it! Just wondering how best to use my fitbit to track my climbing. I usually climb about 65 feet in about 2 minutes, but sometimes there are rests. I want to keep track of the total number of feet climbed in the workout and also see a graph of how high I was climbing. haha not sure how close I can get to that was just wondering 🙂

OK, it doesn't count floors climbed on a Stairmaster but does it record the number of steps?

Mine does, it really would depend on the motion of the handle bars.

I am using a Stepmill, the original type of stair master that has actual steps continuously roling down as you climb them. My Fitbit hand stays on the bar, not swinging but I notice when I am walking and holding my hand in front of my face it is counting steps although it sometimes takes a while to get going. I didn’t notice the Charge 2 registering my steps while I was on the Stepmill but then later it seemed to have recorded some of the steps but not all. Kind of a delayed action that I can’t quite figure out yet. I wonder if there is a way to calibrate it?
