Charge 2 notifications going on and off continuously

My fitbit was dead this morning so I charged it. I noticed that the battery display on the screen would not go away. It's never done that before. So I plugged it back on to the charger hoping that would set it back in place however it was still only displaying the battery charge. I tried restarting the fitbit. Ever since doing that the notifications (on/off) keep going off continuously since then buzzing back and forth from off to on. I tried turning off all the notifications on my phone, restarting my phone, turning the bluetooth on and off and it's not helping. Please advise.
