Charge 2 overestimates distances

I think for some reason my FB is counting too long a distance. Today we walked a pretty accurate 3.5 miles.

But Charge 2 said it was 4.4 miles. I looked to see how to change stride length (73 yr. old male, very active in refereeing

soccer and three workouts a week).

But the instructions are rubbish, calling for two different, nonexistent links to find where to adjust strides. What do I do? Thanks.

Good evening,

If you have a Charge 2, go to your App (I use an Apple), on the bottom right of the App there an "Account" symbol.  Tap there then scroll down to the bottom and tap on Advanced Settings,  At the bottom of that page there is a "Stride Length" where you can change it.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, it was just where you said.

Now, I see my walking stride is about two inches longer than the one it's set at.

Since my issue is that my Fitbit shows me walking about 10-15% further than the Google Map estimate, lengthening won't fix THAT.

Maybe Google isn't quite correct.

You can also shorten it.   Have you manually measured your stride to be sure you enter the correct data?

No, I just took the distance shown on Google Maps/Pedestrian, over 14,000 steps, and divided it by the number of strides my Fitbit registered.

At some point, I have to admit that there's just an inconsistency with the Charge 2, and although it's disappointing, let go and move on.

Letting it go is never an option. There is a fundamental problem with the Charge 2. Why would I buy a device that is flawed if I weren't going to get it fixed?

It seems the bigger question is, if you have manually started and ended your exercise and tracked on the map in the app,why is distance still off due to a stride setting?  I start Gaia GPS logging and my exercise in fitbit at the same time.  Gaia is always repeatable yet distances in fitbit app charge 3 are always long by 0.1 mile or greater per mile walked. Apps on the same phone using the same GPS.
