Charge 2 screen cracked, battery not lasting

Hi,

Is there a Planned obsolescence for Fitbit Charget 2? It is now nearly 2.5 years old but it started to have issues last September, 2 weeks earlier than it got 2 years old. It started with a cracked line from top to bottom on the left hand side of the screen.

Then, the battery started to last less than the usual week. Now it lasts nearly 2 days between charge and charge. It is becoming a pain. I am not buying any other fitbit problem is the planned obsolescence is the reason...

Thanks for your comments

@lalalacb Welcome to the Fitbit Community! I hope you're doing well! Sorry for the delay in my reply.

Let me help you with the damage on your Charge 2. This is not expected so I created a ticket for our Support team. They will reach you via email to further assist you. You can check your tracker's warranty here.

Also if you wish you can try cleaning the contacts using cotton swab with rubbing alcohol, then charge it by plugging it for a couple of hours directly to your computer's USB port (try different ports) or use an UL-certified USB adapter. After this, restart your device and see how it behaves. You can follow these instructions to help improve the battery life.

Let me know how it goes.

Hi Alvaro,

The conversation was taken offline only to try to sell me another product with a discount.

It is funny because I noted on my question to the community that my fitbit was nearly 2.5 years and someone decided to ask several questions to help me by email. After answering the questions I got a "sorry, we cannot help you because warranty lasts only for 2 years however you can use a discount to buy another fitbit".

Can someone explain if this is planned obsolescence? Is there a Charge 2 without this kind of issues just after turning 2 years old? Thanks

I belive it's to do with the firmware revisions they release at their discretion to devices. If you know someone else with a working Charge 2, ask then which revision it is to see if it's older.

Thanks. Probably. A bit later after my message, it started to work properly again. Now it lasts 7 days again... Not sure if it was a software issue or what.

Thank you!

What did you ever do about the cracked screen? I've had my charge 2 since 2016 and just noticed a crack on the right side of the screen.
