Charge 2 screen going crazy

My Charge2 has gone a bit wobbly! Smiley Sad

The screen just cycles from one screen to another. Sometimes it rests at the BPM screen for a while, then it starts to say Notifications ON before showing Notifications OFF and then it goes to something new. The screen stays active like this until the battery is depleted. I recharge it and the same thing happens.

The button on the side seems to function normally and I have reset the watch with no improvement.

HELP!

So the Fitbit went on a stop and start the stop watch over and over again.  I just finished deleting all the events it logged the last time it freaked out, so I guess if I can get it working again, I get to go delete all those.. given it only lasted 1 day or so since the last temper tantrum, I am guessing this will become harder and harder to rectify.  So I think I will be looking for a replacement either way.

I’m having the exact same issue! Please help. Yesterday I charged it and in one hour it was dead. Now I see it cycle through all the screens as if someone is clicking constantly the side button. Have already tried restarting it.

So sorry to see there is no fix as my daughter has had this problem for the last 2-3 weeks and it is out of warranty. Can't afford just to go buy another one for no reason. Does this mean there is a fault in the Charge 2 since it has happened to so many???

Hi, I have exactly the same problem and my Charge 2 is out of Warranty.. Was a solution provided to CarolineDR? If so, please can it be provided to me too??

My issue was not resolved. My Charge2 was also out of warranty and the company issued me a 20% off limited coupon toward the purchase of a new one. If you go to the resolution page, there are instructions of which none worked for me. Others have stated that it worked for them, for some the fix was temporary. I currently do not own a Fitbit. I chose to purchase a smart watch after several months of searching.

I have tried the reset but it doesn’t work 😔 currently thinking of going to another brand as they are too expensive for something like this to happen for no reason

Alvaro thank you for acting as a moderator. My Charge 2 has gone crazy like a thousand other user's on this and other forums. I have gone through all the suggested 'fixes' and unfortunately there is no respite. Right now my device is constantly flicking between the Notification On and Off screens with occasional forays into the stopwatch.

With the number of users who are all reporting similar issues, this is clearly not some random act happening and is more likely to be a manufacturing or design defect.

Could you get someone from the FitBit support team to please contact me and see what resolution they might be able to offer?

Many thanks.

Hello, my Charge 2 started doing the same thing today. I followed all the advice I could find on here, unpaired it with my phone and the app, uninstalled then reinstalled the app, put the device on the charger and performed the reset; nothing worked. When I was in the app the first time before unpairing the device it showed a full battery. After performing the reset, which showed the logo but did not vibrate, the device is blank and the green lights underneath are not on. My phone can't find it to pair with it again, I think it died completely. Is there any new information on a fix for this issue? Thank you.

I can confirm that with a proof of purchase, ownership and description of the issues with the Charge 2, I was offered a new Charge 2, or 50% off on any of the other models.

I chose to buy a Charge 3 at 50% cost.

The support team, were very good and I received my new Charge 3 within 48 hours of speaking with the support team.

My learnings from all this:
1. Buy from a proper store even if it might be slightly more expensive than some of the pieces on eBay or the like.
2. Retain proof of purchases for however long it takes.
3. Retain original packaging whenever possible.
4. Register your devices (whatever they are) as soon as you buy them. There is a feeling that Big Brother might be monitoring us, but personally I know that I got this level of support because the company had all the registry details.

Some of the earlier posts spoke about not being under warranty at 17 months etc. I find that a bit strange because my Charge 2 warranty was for 24 months, as is the warranty for the new Charge 3. Please check your purchase dates and contact the Fitbit support numbers in your countries. For the U.K. it is:

I am facing the same issue. Out of no where the battery died and when I charged it, the screen now keeps changing by itself and the Notifications keep going on and off until finally the device dies down. I tried everything. Restarted, put it on charge for a while, deleted and restarted the app yet nothing. Hell i even tried talking to it. I stay in Dubai and its out of warranty. Called Fitbit and they said buy another one. I think its a money making scheme that they probably puposesly do this to their devices so customers end up buying a new one again.

Mine started vibrating and the screens started cycling at 1a this morning - not a fun wake-up call!!  I held the side button in, thinking I somehow set off the vibration, but that did nothing so I took it off & put it in my nightstand drawer until morning.  I tried resetting it at least 5 times, that does nothing.  It's on the charger now and when I take it off, it shows the battery on screen for a few minutes then switches between notifications off/notifications on screen until the battery dies.  I took a video of it - if I hold the side button it shows the normal screen of times/steps/etc. but when I let it go it goes back to switching between notifications off/notifications on.

Mine started doing this today.  I have done a0ll the suggested fixes.    Approximately 2 weeks after it started only displaying contact and not messages.  Which seems to be only android.  Non of my iPhone friends are having problems.

I'm flabbergasted! 😜After three months in the drawer, I tried one last time to charge and sync un-saved data before disposing of my Charge 2, and lo and behold, it works again without the crazy cyclingthrough modes. 😮😂 Appearantly the longer dead period was enough to drain the battery more fully than what it had done during the crazy "fits," and was more successful than the hard resets in clearing whatever ailed it. Hurrah! 😎🤗I don't have to replace it for now! And as a side bonus it prompted me to buy a reliable Seiko in the meantime for a backup when modern "technology" fails. 🤔

Exactly the same issues on my Charge 2 HR after 2.5 years. It has become unusable for me. First the wristband breaks twice after 12 months, now this. Very disappointed and won‘t recommend FitBit anymore.

I have tried all the recommendations and it is still going crazy.   I have now stopped using it as it constantly vibrates.

it looks in working order when on charge and then it reverts back to the scrolling and vibrate actions.

any advice?

Same problem. The watch turned off all by itself then two days later the notifications buzzer kept going off then it freaked out jumping all over as if I was touching it over and over.

I tried plugging it into the charger and checking up dates, but it just stops for a little then starts buzzing again.

I have a question. Why is it that my charge 2 only had screen issues when i updated 2nd to last update, then Completely malfunctioned Right after the last update? I'm crushed because i was planning to upgrade for christmas, but the last 5ish months were spent trying to figure out what was wrong just to see a bunch of people complaining about the same issues that looked like I'd damaged the watches screen. The last update changed the pixels that weren't showing. Clearly my charge 2 watch is still in good condition and the software updates caused these problems. WHY would i buy another fitbit watch knowing its going to glitch out as soon as the next model comes out? And no i dont have a receipt nor do i remember the exact day i bought it. I was too excited to care.

I also didn’t have a receipt but also knew it was out of warranty. I contacted Fitbit and they asked me to send a photo of the screen and they replaced it even after I had told them it was out of warranty
