New User. Downloaded a fitbit connect for Windows. Have difficulties to complete the setup process.
Turned on the bluebooth. paired with Charge 2. Connected the USB with the laptop. Updated fitbit connect software to the latest version.
It keeps warning Wireless Sync Dongle is disconnected and Plug in a Dongle
I am stuck on this setup page and have tried two laptops and multiple USB plugs. Doesnt work. I have trouble complete the setup process and cannt use the tracker as the screen keeps saying goto fitbit/setup. Very frustrated. there is no manual in the box and there is limited information on how to go pass this "plug in a dongle" error message.
Any idea how to solve this issue?

Thank you for the advice to just go to my iPhone and add this Charge 2 that way.

Yeah, it's not solved. That Fitbit only has support with nonfunctioning dongles reflects their poor product quality, failure to provide proper customer support, and unwillingness to alter their business model. This is why Chinese knock offs are taking over the market. Fitbit, you should be ashamed.
I have a similar situation with a Charge HR and Windows 7 x64 pro. Done every USB port, both 2.0 and 3.0. Have removed and reinstalled device driver with Fitbit Connect installed and not installed. Windows recognizes the dongle and puts in the drivers no worries. But the kludgware Fitbit connect fails to recognize the product.

Your making no sense @Chicagodude, a nonfunctional device can not be supported. The win 7 connect requires a functioning Fitbit USB dongle.

I have had 2 Charge HRs so I have a dongle. I bought a Charge 2 only to find I could not hook it up to my Windows 7. I decided to put it on my iPhone. Downloaded the Fitbit app, turned the Bluetooth on the phone and was readily able to add the charge 2 to my account. Opened the dashboard in Win 7 and both trackers were on board. Shut of my phone and forced a sync with Win 7 and through the dongle both trackers were synced.Worked for me

I just purchased me Flex 2 and I am having the same set up problem: stuck on "Plug in a Dongle". Did not know what a Dongle was, and no such device has been provided. Purcahsed through Amazon, and am greatly dissapointed so far!!!

It should say this on the box, but of course, Fitbit is more interested in making money. FITBIT DOES NOT WORK WITH WINDOWS 7, WINDOWS 8, NOR WINDOWS 8.1. (Of course that's probably 80% of the computers out there.) Oh, that's fine, they say, just BUY SOMETHING ELSE FROM US TO MAKE IT WORK. Curse word!

Hello, we have a Fitbit scharge 2, and i have spend a lot of time with this charge 2.
But still he said: Couldn't find wireless sync dongle.
But the charge 2, don't need a dongle, they told me.
I use a apple macbook pro with mac os 10.8.5
Please help me.
Ok, nu in mijn eigen taal.
Groet mar2TB

Yeah. Not buying a dongle or installing that crap OS (Windows 10). Guess what's going back to the store? No really. Guess.

Considering that those are all very insecure operating systems and barely supported by microsoft it doesn't surprise me if anybody would support them anymore.
Win 7 is a 9 year old OS and microsoft support ended 3 years ago.
Mainstream support for 8.1 ended Jan 2018. Yes Microsoft doesn't give support anymore, but offers Win 10 as a free Operating System.
@SunsetRunner if you search the forums you will notice that when users ask nicely they usually receive a dongle for free.

MS support for windows 7 is still running. That is just a lie.
This year in fact you will need to update to a new service pack to continue to receive support.
There was no windows 9 - and windows 8 was literally pulled as it was a disaster.
I have about 7 computers and laptops - 4 of which run windows 10 and they are a disaster - absolute disaster.
I maintain several computers with windows 7 as it is essential for software development for a huge number of programs.
Not supporting windows 7 is absolutely, in literally no way about compatibility - it is 100% about selling dongles - there is no two ways about this.
Its a shocking, really shocking decision to have made and FitBit should be supplying these free of charge with all devices.
In Australia my device retailed for well over $300 - to have no functioning connectivity with a desktop device - which is all NON LAPTOP COMPUTERS - its an absolute joke.
I can connect and communicate with $3 arduinos and even a MakeyMakey - utterly absurd and a total disgrace.

Microsoft ended mainstream support for Windows 7 on January 13, 2015, but extended support won't end until January 14, 2020.Feb 20, 2019
Yes if a user wants to pay then win 7 will be still supported
