Hello and welcome to the forums @SunsetRunner

Your Fitbit knows you're alive and moving. Burned calories happen simply because you're breathing and it doesn't have to be on your arm to count them. This article on burned calories may help you. click to read

What you're seeing is normal and won't make any difference with your step statistics.

I find that answer very difficult to believe.  I burned “481” calories in my sleep ? How does my charge 3 know I’m breathing and not died ? Seriously thinking of changing brands because had so many things that are totally wrong on here. Like yesterday I was in a car for 210 miles yet I walked 700 steps and went up 28 flights of stairs 😕

Several hundred calories burned during sleep is quite normal but the idea takes some getting used to.

There are BMR calculators available online where you can put in your details (age, weight etc) and it will calculate your daily calorie burn from just keeping your body alive. Hopefully, checking these against the fitbit calculations will help ease your mind.

Fitbit's comments on BMR calories can be found at https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1381

Sadly, getting steps and floors tracked when driving is one of fitbit's weaknesses where it misinterprets a bumpy ride into steps. If it is too much to ignore then the following help file explains how to remove them: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1306
