Hey you @Hearts08, thanks for stopping by! Sorry my friend, I'm a bit confused about your post... do you need help to set up your notifications?

No worries @Dearnne, I'll be more than glad to help you. Smiley Very Happy Since you'll need to make a choice about encryption, before you get started we recommend reading our brief explanation at Are notifications sent from my Android device encrypted?

On your mobile device go to your system settings and verify these conditions:

  • The Android version is 4.3 or higher. This can usually be found under About Phone or About Device.
  • Bluetooth is turned on. Bluetooth is what allows your mobile device to communicate with Fitbit, so it must be on for a notification to transmit.
  • Do Not Disturb is turned off. This setting can usually be found under Sound and Notification.
  • A default SMS and calendar app ae selected. If your Android version is 5.0+ make sure a default is shown. This setting can usually be found under More.

Now you'll make sure the Fitbit app can send the notifications you want to see. Make sure your charged tracker is nearby.

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Account icon.
  2. Tap your tracker's name.
  3. Tap Notifications.
  4. Check the box for Fitbit Notification Service and tap OK.
  5. Confirm which apps should send notifications to your tracker. For example if you'd rather see text messages from What's App than Messenger, change the Text messaging (SMS) app setting. (You can only choose one app per category.) This list shows the most common defaults, but you'll only see the notification types offered for your tracker:
    • Phone app—Dialer
    • Text messaging (SMS) app—Messenger
    • Calendar app—Calendar
    • Email—Email
  6. If you want to require that only encrypted notifications can pass from your phone to tracker:
    1. Go back to the Notifications screen and tap Require encryption.
    2. Close and reopen the Fitbit app to start the bonding process required for sending encrypted data.
    3. If the bonding process fails, tap Re-enable and try again. Most devices bond immediately or after a few tries, but some cannot.
  7. Go back to the tracker settings screen and sync your tracker.

The Charge 2 notification setting on the tracker that must be on. Therefore, on the clock screen, press and hold the button.

You're all set. You'll get tracker notifications whenever you're in range of your mobile device (about 20 feet). Smiley Very Happy

Let me know guys if you need further assistance!

Newbie here.

Tried all that all still not receiving tests.

My charge 2 does not receive texts or calls anymore. Just comes up as having 1 new message. Tried reboot of Charge 2 and Droid Turbo 2. Also, tried solutions in previous post. Still not receiving. It was working until a week ago.

Thanks for stopping by @Mee65! I'm so sorry to hear about the notifications issues you've been experiencing, thanks a lot for already troubleshooting this inconvenience. Nice way to go my friend! Smiley Wink

However, I'd like you to please check and confirm if you've followed every single steps I'm leaving below:

  • Double check that your Fitbit App is up-to-date to version 2.55 (since you've uninstalled it)
  • Tracker is already running the latest firmware version
  • Log out of your Fitbit App
  • Force quit the App
  • Restart your Charge 2, 3 times in a row
  • Turn off the Bluetooth
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes
  • Turn on the Bluetooth
  • Log back into your Fitbit App

For the notifications:

  • Make sure that "Enable Notification Widget" is turned on. This can be found with other notification settings in the Fitbit Android App.
  • Turn on "Always Connected" in the Fitbit Android App. What this does is improve the Bluetooth connection between your Charge 2 and your mobile device.
  • Verify that you have notifications turned "On" on-device by holding the button on your Charge 2 for two to three seconds when your Charge 2 is displaying its clock face.

PS: Since you're on Android app, If the preview message is off then it won't preview through Fitbit either, no matter what you set it to through the app. So, check it by going to Settings --> Device --> Applications --> Messages --> Notifications --> Must be on, pop-up display switched on, and Preview Message on. Smiley Very Happy

Let me know how it goes!

Been using the flex for about 5 years now and upgraded to the Charge 2 about a month ago. Cannot receive notifications (main reason for upgrading). Tried everything you had mentioned already. Tried again, still not getting notifications. Worked intermittently about a month ago and then stopped. Never dropped or wet (other than sweating). Ready to throw it in the trash and buy a Samsung 😞

Thanks for jumping up into this thread and following my suggestions @LSkyWalkerRobot wink

As I've mentioned, notifications skip or stop occasionally for several reasons that don't suggest a problem with your tracker or the Fitbit app.

  • Your mobile device was too far away. It must be within 20 feet of your tracker to transmit the notification.
  • You changed a related setting on your mobile device, such as turning on Do Not Disturb.
  • You're using another Bluetooth product. If you have Bluetooth products like speakers, headsets, or car stereos paired to your mobile device along with your tracker, you may have trouble using more than one at the same time. For example, turning on your speaker might stop your mobile device from sending a notification or syncing.
  • The connection between your mobile device and tracker is unstable. Bluetooth signals are susceptible to disconnecting or dropping occasionally, and reliability varies by Android device and operating system. For the best chances of success:
  • Your tracker was syncing. Syncing can sometimes prevent or delay a notification.
  • You just updated the Fitbit app. Reboot your mobile device and try setting up notifications again.

Let's do it once more. Reset your Bluetooth:

  • Turn off Bluetooth
  • Force quit the Fitbit app
  • Reboot your mobile device
  • Turn on Bluetooth
  • Restart your buddy 3 times in a row
  • Turn off notifications:
    1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Account icon
    2. Tap your tracker
    3. Tap Notifications
    4. Tap the three dots in the top right and choose Disable Notifications
  • Open the Fitbit app and turn notifications back on

If after following those steps your notifications are still not working, as a last resort you can fully refresh notifications, which means setting them up again in the Fitbit app from the beginning. Unlike turning notifications off and on (resetting), this task also temporarily removes the connection between your mobile device and the tracker.

  1. Tell your mobile device to "forget" your tracker. The instructions differ by device, but in most cases:
    1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth and find your tracker on the list.
    2. Tap Forget or Forget Device.
  2. Reboot your mobile device.
  3. In the Fitbit app under device settings, tap Notifications and make your choice.

I'm crossing my fingers! Let me know if this works!

Thank you kind sir, I have been locked in a battle with my charge 2. My wife and I both have the same phone and the same charge 2 but she was receiving the name and message where I just got a new message notification. It's been driving me crazy. All. Of our setting we're the same on the app. The difference was the pop up and display messages on my messenger app. You are a genius

I have a charge 2. I get all notifications except text and I have that set up correctly in the app on my iOS device. How can I get this to work?

I have all my notifications in alignment in order to receive my text messages through my Fitbit Charge 2.. Unfortunately, it has continued NOT to process the messages themselves. I am only alerted with it saying "New Message" "1 New Message".. How is it that I can rectify this matter and actually have the 40 characters allowed to scroll across my Charge 2 Screen.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I was having the same issue but figured it out. Go into your message settings and choose privacy settings. This will turn on a preview of messages on lock screen and status bar. It shows sender and the message on Fitbit. Whew!!! Hope this works!

Hi there... Yes, I realized that because I had my message settings set to
private, that clearly they wouldn't transcribe to the fit, just as they
don't show on my phone unless I opened the message itself.

Whatever phone you have, go into the text messaging portion of it(the main
display where it may list all the conversations you have going on).. Within
that area, there should be a "more options" avenue / "settings" option for
you to click on. Once in that location, look for where it may say
"Notification(s)" where you can choose for it to show in your status bar...
Make sure that is NOT set to private, yet turned ON where it would display
that way on your phone... From there it should allow you to receive
identifiable all and any messages that come through. I hope that was
helpful😊 Let me know how it goes or if you need any further assistance.
