Charge 2 tracked heart rate when it's not being worn

Hi

I took my Fitbit off at about 22:30 and at 02:30 decided to synch and check previous day. It is actually showing heart rate while I am not wearing it. In fact it has logged heart rate at peak for the whole 4 hours I have not been wearing it and has logged over 130 minutes activity although I have not been wearing it.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @ElisaM, it's nice to have a new member around! Sometime the Charge 2 can't detect you have taken it off, and it sees what it thinks is your pulse. This is can be explained in this article. Note that if you remove your tracker but it keeps moving, for example if you put it in a pocket or backpack, the tracker may display an erroneous heart rate reading. This could also explain the 130 active minutes your Charge 2 tracked. Remember that the wrist trackers count steps depending on the movement of your arms, when you are driving or for example when your tracker is close to a fan.

There are some factors that can affect the heart rate readings. Movement, temperature, humidity, stress level, physical body position, caffeine intake, and medication are some of the few things that can affect it.

To prevent this by turning off heart rate tracking when the tracker is not in use, log into your dashboard and go to Settings > Devices to turn your Heart Rate Tracking to "Off."

You can also try logging a driving activity to negate this incorrect data. Finally restart your tracker by doing the following to ensure it is working fine:

  • Plug the charging cable to your computer or UL certified wall adapter.
  • Align the contacts of the tracker with the charging cable and plug it in making sure it snaps securely.
  • Your tracker should start charging.
  • Press the button for 10 to 12 seconds.
  • You should see your tracker's firmware version and you can now unplug your tracker.

My Charge 2 just started doing the same thing after I take it off and put it on my nightstand because it's been bothering me to sleep with it on.   It's not moving.    It logged me at almost 3 hours of PEAK heart rate activity starting at midnight.    What can I do and how can I delete these numbers so they don't skew my daily totals?   Thank you
