My Fitbit is going bezerk by acting as if I am holding the button! Stop watch is running, notifications turning off and on, screen is flying by! It does this off and on until my battery runs down. Is my Fitbit about to die?!?!?

@Bizigirl Welcome! It's great to see you around!
Let me help you with your Charge 2 turning notifications on and off on a loop. You can clean the button area with cotton and rubbing alcohol. After this use compressed air at a distance to clear the area. Finally restart your device.
Let me know how it goes.

I gave your suggestion a try several times last night, but everything is still scrolling across my screen. What do you suggest I do now? Is my Fitbit dying?

I am having the same issue. Fitbit support provided me the information below. This did not fix my issue. Apparently Fitbit support does not know how to fix this issue because I have reached out that group more than 3 times.
Here are the steps as processed:
Syncing difficulty is usually caused by a missing requirement. You may verify each requirement below:
• The Fitbit app is installed on a supported cellphone. To check, see http://www.fitbit.com/devices.
• The latest version of the Fitbit app is installed on your phone or tablet.
• Your cellphone has a cellular data or Wi-Fi connection.
• The software on your cellphone is up to date. To check, tap settings > general > software update.
• The Bluetooth setting on your cellphone is on. To check, tap settings > Bluetooth.
• Your cellphone isn't managing other Bluetooth connections.
• If you use more than one device to sync, make sure the other device isn't nearby. If the device is nearby, turn off Bluetooth on it.
• Your Fitbit device's battery isn't critically low.
• The firmware on your Fitbit device is up to date as described in How do I update my Fitbit device?
If your device still won't sync, try these steps:
• Force quit the Fitbit app.
• Go to settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth off and back on.
• Open the Fitbit app.
• If your Fitbit device didn't sync, restart your cellphone
• Open the Fitbit app.
• If your Fitbit device didn't sync, restart it. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
• If your Fitbit device won't sync after the restart, log in to your Fitbit account on a different phone, tablet, or computer and try to sync.
• If your Fitbit device still doesn’t sync, remove all other Fitbit devices from your account and from the list of connected Bluetooth devices and try to sync
