Fitbit firmware version: 22.55.02
Android version: 9 (up to date patch)
Phone: Nokia 8.1
App version: 3.2
My Charge 2 worked perfectly, including with notifications on my old Moto G5 Plus (running Android 8). A few months ago, I switched to a Nokia 8.1 (Android One initiative running up-to-date Android) and have had nothing but problems.
First, I noticed that whatever I tried, the text/call/calendar notifications would not come through to the fitbit (which I can see on these forums is a problem lots of people are having). More recently, the syncing became unreliable. Today, I discovered it would not sync at all, nor would it update to the latest firmware version it said was needed.
Troubleshooting steps I have tried:
This last one has highlighted the problem. Once unpaired, I attempted to re-pair the Fitbit, but it would not complete the connection. The app found the Fitbit, sent the 4-digit code (which I inputted), but then failed to finish the pairing. So clearly, the phone is capable of finding the Fitbit and talking to it, but something in the pairing process is throwing an error - which I suspect is a similar problem, if not the same, as the syncing issue.
So, for now, I have a Fitbit that is little more than a digital watch, as I can't change anything on it or look at my tracking in any detail.

The same is happening to version 3.2 (20213412) it needs to upgrade the charger. But Fitbit app doesn't detect charger 2. It doesnt since. I've tried everything.

I had this same problem about a month ago when I noticed the device was not syncing. I tried all the recommendations and spoke to fitbit support. They speak to you like you are idiots, I happen to have a degree in Electronic Engineering and have worked with computers and peripherals for years. I explained that it had to be a software issue, because my device bluetooth was operable, but the connection was not finalizing. I got mine to work by using an Amazon Fire tablet with the fitbit app installed. I also just did this with my Wife's fitbit one that was also having issues syncing. I guess fitbit doesn't understand the importance of the syncing of the device. I also got my fitbit to sync back to my phone but it stopped syncing about two weeks ago, so I went back to the Fire tablet again. The software engineers at fitbit seem to be unable to keep up with all the coding on the different levels of bluetooth radio parameters. Plus I suspect they are conveniently trying to sell their new line of fitbits. Most folks do not want to spend a hundred dollars or more for a new device every year, the product can and should last longer. Just a bad business practice and philosophy. Try syncing to an Amazon Fire tablet if you have one.

Thanks for that. I don't have Amazon Fire, but I do have my old MOTO handset lying around. I will try digging that out and see if it can sync, as I suspect it's hardware and software are more contemporary to the Fitbit and may communicate better. Shoddy coding if that's the case.
Hopefully, that device will nudge the Fitbit into action and update it, then I'll go back to my new phone and try again.

No luck! I suspect it is this version of the Android app causing the issues then, and how it is handling the Bluetooth. My old phone runs an older version of Android and Bluetooth (and used to work perfectly) but now doesn't connect!

Thank you for that message. Unfortunately I don't have Amazon Fire. I can try sync my charger with a different phone and see what happens, but if it doesn't work then I'm done with Fitbit. I'll buy Garmin. What's the point of getting another Fitbit if the same crap is going to happen. I suspected that may have been their tactic, of making sure you give up and buy another Fitbit like Charger 3 or the newer ones. I refuse to spend money every year on something that should last longer.

Check out my reply to green_twenty...hang in there...don't give up...this product idea is still relatively young...less than 10 years...the problem is that folks like fitbit, garmin, apple and samsung have overpriced these products...and made them to be more pretty over function...function should be their first priority...it's the data that is more important...I have hope for you...

Here you all go, you'll enjoy this. Just got a reply from Fitbit support.
We're sorry to hear about the inconveniences you're currently experiencing with the Fitbit Charge 2 that's no longer connecting on your phone and it's our pleasure to assist you with your concern.
Upon checking on our system we have check both device that you're using on setting up the device, we have determined that your device is not compatible with Fitbit products. To find more information about incompatible devices, see http://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2315
This is pretty poor that such a new device is now "incompatible". Also, doesn't explain why my old phone that USED TO WORK, now doesn't.
