Every couple of years I seem to have a problem with syncing. In the past this was due to a software update. Everything shows I am up to date. Are others having issues today?

I think a lot of us have syncing issues from time to time, often for no apparent reason. You're doing well if you only get issues every couple of years!
The usual things I try when I get syncing issues are:

It's affecting me as well. The Charge 2 had disappeared from both my iPhone and iPad. When I tried to reconnect I'm getting the message 'We found your tracker!' at the top of the screen and then 'Connecting to Tracker' at the bottom with the spinning wheel that just keeps spinning and never connects - I left it for 30 minutes!

Thanks Steve. I found just following steps 1 and 4 got my Charge 2 connected again.

Well after messing with a variety of things, I finally synced it after deactivating Bluetooth from my phone for 3 times. I guess 3 times is the charm but the action made no sense as it took multiple tries

I thought I'd connected it, but lost it again. It took me a couple more tries to get it synced - maybe 3 is the lucky number!!
