Charge 2 won't pair to my desktop computer (Windows 10 + Bluetooth OK)

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Got a Charge 2 for Xmas, went to fitbit com/setup and created account. Tried to pair the Charge 2 to my desktop computer (Windows 10 & Bluetooth 4) but the pairing fails. When I go to Bluetooth it finds the Charge 2 OK and is ready to pair but I get the failure message that the pairing hasn't worked as the device is not discoverable.

How are you trying to do the pairing? Fitbits are unusual in that the pairing has to be done via the fitbit app rather than the Bluetooth settings.

I assume that you are using the fitbit app on windows 10 rather than downloading the fitbit connect software.

Initially I followed the steps in the fitbit app - selecting the Charge 2, etc, but the pairing failed in the app. The app then instructs you to go to your computer's bluetooth settings so I tried to pair that way. That failed as well.

Exact same thing is happening to me with a new Charge 2.  Tried a Factory Reset as well as all the other suggested steps.  Bluetooth knows it's there, but it just won't pair.  I already had a Flex on my account and Bluetooth sees that too. If I try to pair the Flex, it initially says "connected", but then I see a "Driver Error" in Bluetooth Settings screen. No answers yet.  Anyone else seeing this behavior?

We have a new charge 2 that will not pair to windows 10 pc using bluetooth sees device but won't complete pairing. Will pair using our android phones blue tooth nicely, so we set up from there and sync with the android phone. Will keep looking for a solution, have not contacted fitbit support yet.

Having the same problem - Tried all suggestion and was on line with Fitbit for around 1 hour . I was told to try numerous things and on different items. New laptop , cell phone and Ipod. Long story short was told to either send in for a replacement or return to store. After getting a new one still having same problem.

I am having the exact same problem and wrote a post here last night, though I just spent 15 minutes searching for it to see if it had been answered, and it appears to have been deleted.

In a nutshell, New charge 2, Windows 10 desktop sees it, but won't pair it; tried pairing through both Fitbit app and Windows, neither worked, updated Bluetooth driver, still won't pair, rebooted every device involved multiple times, still won't pair. Paired it with an iPhone as an experiment; that worked fine, so it's not that the Charge 2 is defective.

It would be really nice to get some kind of acknowledgement on this problem.

I too am having the same problem. Multiple attempts to pair, tried all the usual tricks, disable, re-enable, reboot, reload app, tried fitbit connect. Tried customer support live chat. Waste of time. Out of ideas. Tested on an i-phone, paired with ease. Tested the PC paired with other objects no problem. Fitbit App is no good on Win-10. can't believe they can't get this app figured out. Think I'll return it and find something that works.

@dianech2 you don't pair a tracker to the phone or PC, you connect the tracker to your account.

Now the app does the pairing.

Since your Fitbit was setup through an Android device, all you need to do on the PC is log into the Fitbit app and it should be setup and will try to sync.

Now if it doesn't sync, we can work on this.

What I'm trying to do is "setup" my new Charge 2, i.e. "pair" it with my account, which currently is paired with a Flex.  But when I run the Fitbit App on my Win 10 laptop and ask it to set up a new device, it simply fails to establish a connection via Bluetooth.  I don't have a smartphone or other device that I could use.

What's more, the Win 10 Fitbit App is not even able to connect with my Flex, which is paired with my account.  Something is wrong with either the Fitbit App or Bluetooth on Win 10. Apparently folks have no trouble connecting on other platforms.

Just got off of the phone with a Fitbit tech and they said that windows 10 has issues with Fitbit connections. They said I need a Dongle that they are sending for free. Gonna try it and see.

It looks like you found the answer that I was about to offer.

Fitbit insists on doing the pairing and connection through its own app. It doesn't respect the standard bluetooth pairing procedures. The app is clearly a poor port from the IOS app. That pretty much means if the app doesn't play with the bluetooth driver on your win10, you are screwed. For charge HR, they give you a dongle, so one of your PCs may still work. It's nice that they send you another dongle....though they should have included it in the first place.

I actually already had a dongle from before. First they said I had to turn off the Win 10 Bluetooth, then insert the dongle.  The Fitbit App found the Dongle and told me to update the firmware, which I did.  At least the Fitbit App was now able to recognize and apparently connect with the Charge 2.  However the App is still failing to complete the pairing with my account.

We'll see what the next chapter in this saga reveals.

We called tech support yesterday, and they are sending my guy a dongle free of charge as well.

I'm having the exact same problem today! Spent all day trying to set the charge 2 up on my mums phone/iPad and then went to my desktop computer and it won't pair! Very interested to see what the answer is.

@GBooton am I correct that the Chatge2 is connected to the iphone?

If so there is no reason to sync through the computer, but if you want to then download the connect softwate, install on the computer, your all setup.

Now if it does not sync, make sure your iPhone/iPad are at least 30 feet away or their BT is off.

Why do I say you don't need to sync through the Mac? Any sync simply sends the data to the fitbit server then your browser looks at this server to display your data, and does not care how it was synced.

When it comes to setting up a tracker, the user connects the tracker to the account, your now setup.

The app or fitbit connect then pairs the tracker to the device.

Finally was able to get the Charge 2 paired.  I had to (a) disable Win 10 Bluetooth anduse the Fitbit dongle with the Win 10 App, and (b) during the pairing process, a screen pops up into which I had to manually type in the 4-digit code that appears on the Charge 2.  Unfortunately the screen gives no instructions as to what to do.  It's just a white screen with four 1" empty squares - not even a hint as to what it's waiting for,  Thanks to excellent support from TristanR at Fitbit, I finally got it resolved.

I had the same problem with the Charge 2 I received for Christmas. It turns out that the FitBit needed a software update - the Catch-22 was that the software couldn't be updated until the FitBit was paired! The solution was to pair the FitBit with my iPad first, at which time the iOS app will update the FitBit. After updating the FitBit, it paired easily with my PC.

I hope that shelps I have been trying with and without a dongle and still can't get my new Charge 2 to pair. My old charge had some problems with pairing but could uninstall Fitbit app and reinstall and restart computer usually took care of it. That doesn't even work with the Charge 2. I may have to send it back. 😞
