Charge 2 won't stay charged

The fitbit Charge 2 was purchased for my son a little over a year ago. It won't stay charged. Called support and because it's been more than a year, they will not do anything! I can't even send it in to pay to have the battery replaced. I didn't realize fitbit charged $150 for a fitness watch that you have to buy every year. Will not purchase another fitbit again. Customer Service is worthless!

I've replaced batteries on devices as small as a fitbit and it's probably beyond the skills of the average person IMO.

Hey @thetoothfairy73, welcome aboard! I'm sorry to hear about what happened with your son's Charge 2 'cause the battery isn't working as expected. On the other side, I appreciate you have taken the time to contact our Support team for further help, even though their response wasn't the best one for you, since  they could only offer you a discount towards the purchase of a different Fitbit device. There is another topic that I'd like to talk about and is the fact that the battery of the Fitbit devices can't be replaced just like that. I meant I know there are tutorials on Youtube about how to do that, but it is not recommendable at all, since you could damage the trackers. Also, the warranty doesn't cover manipulated Fitbit devices.

I understand you've invested in the Fitbit products, however, we as any other company have policies to follow through.  While customer satisfaction remains our number one goal, the demands of running a global business require that we enforce our warranty consistently.

@WavyDavey and @Rich_Laue thanks for sharing that information! 🙂

If there any questions present, please let me know and I'll be glad to help.

Her son's Fitbit is already useless and the customer had already been told it's past the warranty, so I'm not sure how there is any harm in replacing the battery, at this point!

I also have a Charge 2, for either 1.5 or 2.5 years, and suddenly it won't hold a charge, either. Works for a couple of hours, then dies with no warning. Just happened yesterday. That's why I came to the forum. Sad to see that I won't be able to get help from Fitbit to fix it.

Just checked and mine is 1.5 years old. Fitbit sent me an anniversary message on May 6, 2019, so I got the Fitbit in May 2018.

1 year warranty. Which especially sucks because if I had gotten it in Europe, it would have a 2 year warranty.

Oops, I actually found more info and I says I got the Fitbit in 2017, so it's 2.5 years old.

That actually happened to me yesterday and this morning. I charged it this morning before work and halfway at work it died on me.
