Charge 2 won't track mileage consistently

I've recently been having an issue where my charge 2 when synced with my Samsung galaxy changes the distance of my run just a little bit. I know there is no variance because I go on the same exact route every single day. I've tried looking on other threads and they mention to update my Charge 2 firm ware. To do this I need to make sure my "all day sync" is turned on. However the android app has recently gotten rid of this feature and instead has a feature called "always connect." I don't see that my fitbit has an update. It says my firmware version is 22.22.58.0. I am at a loss for what to do, and I'm kinda getting peeved that my run is getting messed up. I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling my app.

On one run It tracked 3.05 miles. Another on a different day, same exact route, same time of day, it trakced 3.75 miles. Quite a big difference!

@teresa.schuman I hope you're doing well!

Let me help you with your distance detection. Your tracker's firmware seems to be up to dateYour device uses the number of steps and stride length to calculate the distance. You can improve the accuracy by measuring and logging your stride length. Feel free to use these instructions to do this. When walking make sure your arm is swinging normally as this is used to detect the steps for your walk.

Let me know how it goes.

I am having the same problem as Teresa. My regular run is being recorded with significantly different distances. It is mapped accurately, but often (not always) shows a much shorter distance. This has been negatively affecting my fitness score - I assume because it appears I am running much slower than I actually am.

Regarding the response that has been provided above, I don't understand why stride length would be a factor - shouldn't it be using the GPS in my phone to measure the distance?

Since this problem started, I've also been measuring my runs with Map My Run - using the same phone.  The maps look the same and the distance corresponds more closely with the longer Fitbit distance.
