I have a new problem - my 2 y.o. Charge 2 has died.....

What do you mean died? Is the battery dead or does it just need rebooting or did you maybe get water inside it?

After a few yrs my battery started only lasting a short time before needing recharging so i had to buy a new model.

Yep, same same, recharges ok but runs out in few minutes! I'll have to be nice to Santa!

And life's not the same without it......

I have actually been running without it for periods of time now as i wanted to wear other jewellery and my live is pretty regimented so i found that i basically knew roughly how many calories i burned even without the fitbit..
