Tried over 10 times. Battery also depletes after two days. Giving up. Off to buy a Garmin or Samsung!

Welcome to the Community Forums @Bigjagon.

I'd recommend to follow the troubleshooting steps provided in the help article: Why can't I update my Fitbit device?

In regards to the battery, I'd recommend restarting your Fitbit and then, let your device to run out of battery to charge it again. Keep an eye on it to see how the battery goes. You can also see: Can I extend my Fitbit device's battery life?

We recommend to charge your trackers via the USB port over a wall adapter. However, it is also possible to charge your Fitbit tracker with a UL certified wall adapter. What may actually cause damage to the tracker's battery (either on a computer or a wall adapter) is the charging time, which if excessive over time may damage the battery and therefore cause quick battery drain or prevent the tracker from charging at all.

Tips to best charge Fitbit trackers are:

  • Use only genuine Fitbit charging cables
  • Use only UL-certified wall chargers
  • Avoid USB battery packs
  • Charge at room temperature

For charging purposes, your charging cable can be plugged into any USB power source, including but not limited to:

  • A computer
  • A Wall A/C to USB adapter, commonly found with smartphones
  • A DC to USB adapter (vehicle power port)

Can you please confirm if your Charge 3 is paired to your account? Have you checked that the Charge 3 it's been syncing?

Hello,
Thank you for your speedy reply. Just to confirm I have a Charge 2 not Charge 3 and it does sync to my account. The battery seemed to drain when I tried to update the firmware. I do use the recommended USB ports and have never had a problem up until now.
I will do as you suggest and look at the link provided to see why it’s not upgrading. I will keep you informed as requested.
Many thanks

Hi there @Bigjagon. Thanks so much for clarifying which devices you have. I've moved your post to Charge 2 to get more related replies here. Robot wink

I'll be around, don't forget to keep me posted with the outcome.

I just updated my Charge 2.  It kept looping on the update progress and would show a '!' on the fitbit display.

I disabled/enabled bluetooth on my phone to force bluetooth reconnect and the update completed on the next iteration.

Worth a try to disable/enable bluetooth or reset your phone and try again.

Thank you for your advice. Can’t get it to pair with my phone via Bluetooth although it does sync and update my info on my account.

Phone says put Fitbit in pairing mode but don’t know how to do it.
Thanks anyway.

I've had nothing but trouble on my Charge 2 sine the last Fitbit update on my Samsung last month. My battery drains quickly now or doesn't sync. I have to use the trouble shooting  techniques each time I want to sync- the problem was definitely the new update with the new UI.
