Brightness settings are AUTO or NORMAL. When I set to AUTO even indoors can't see face enough to use. On NORMAL ok indoors or garage where I can see in dark space to start an exercise. If I'm outdoors I can't see face to set exercise; and/or if I've set it in garage before leaving, can't click open to see progress. I've tried finding online troubleshooting techniques without success. Last year, May, 2019, Fitbit had to send me new Fitbit Charge 3 for differnt problems . This Fitbit isn't even a year old, today is April 14, 2020. As are other people, I am also getting lines on the clock face. Have done that troubleshooting which doesn't fix it either.

How do you even change the brightness settings? I wear my normal watch now as well just so I can tell the time, when outdoors the screen is virtually impossible to read

having problem again today so without seeing the face, I am going to try and recall for you what I do in settings.
Click on side of fitbit to bring up clock, swipe left till you get to settings, click and Brightness is one setting. Problem is there are only 2 settings, normal and auto. I had to keep it on normal because auto made the readability of the face worse.

Sorry I can't help more right now since my fitbit is still not showing anything on the face.
