Charge 3 Defect ? Bands are falling off

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Charge 3 is not even a month old and the bands are falling off. It seems the clips on the Charge 3 are failing already.

This is happening with original and accessory bands.

I've been chatting with Fitbit via Twitter Direct Messaging about this. Gonna have to get on the phone and request a warranty replacement it seems. In case you need it here is Fitbits phone number 877-623-4997

Then why sale such a cheap band for a device that’s costs $200 plus dollars?  The least they could do is attach a band of good quality

They don’t work either. My kids gave me a Fitbit Charge 3 and also bought extra bands like these. The fall right off.

Yes, me too. Only had mine 5 days. First it fell off while sleeping and a couple times while I was dressing. Annoying, but I just reattached it. Then the **ahem** thing fell off while I was getting my bike ready for a ride and I didn’t notice until a couple hours later and tried to retrace where I was and couldn’t find it. Come to find out this has been an issue with the bands for a couple years? Now I’m just angry and feel ripped off.

That's exactly how I felt! Did you contact them?  The first band I had actually broke in half!  I wrote them an email and they replaced the band.  I hadn't had it a year. But if you can't attach it to the device itself, then you are out of luck, as I am.
I was tempted to look into a Charge 4.   But that might be just throwing good money after bad.  Maybe they will one day reconfigure it to where the bands stay on...
I'll admit, it was hard not know how many steps I was making. I was so used to checking it, and of course I used it as my watch.

I did contact them and they had me return the Fitbit in exchange for a new
one that works great.

My band with the holes for my Fitbit Charge 3 keeps falling off. Unfortunately, it isn't covered by warranty anymore and it was a gift, so by Fitbit warranty policy I wouldn't be able to file a claim for repair even if it was within the warranty period.

I've tried cleaning the connector part of the band and the Fitbit connection with some water and a cotton swab, but I still have no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions for what else I can do to try to mitigate this issue?

An update for those of you still reading this. I found that the springs under the band holder needed some love so it may be an easy fix for some of you out there too. I just used a sewing needle to get underneath of it and clean the springs as best I could. If that still doesn't work for you all, and the warranty is expired, I found an affordable fix with this YouTube video. Hope this helps!

i want to share mt my experience as well, not a pleasant one. I bought FitBit Charge 3 and the its less than a year old and the band is cracking and breaking off. I had also bought extended warranty on top of the actual price but when i went back to the shop to get it fixed they are saying that its not covered under manufacture warranty when clearly its a manufacturing defect as the crack in the wrist band appears to be originating from the dot indentation which is a bad design and needs to be fixed or replaced by manufacturer.

Hi @Suri09 you mention going back to the shop where you bought the Charge 3.

Is this extended warranty purchased through Fitbit or through "the shop" the tracker was purchased through?

The extended Fitbit warranty does not go into effect until the Fitbit warranty expires.

I'm not sure what extended warranty you purchased.

Who is the extended warranty with and was the Charge 3 bought through Fitbit?

As for bands breaking, some waranties do not cover physical damage to accessories.

With replacements at about 10USD for nice metal bands just saying that it really is not worth the hassle.

I do not think fitbit makes a band that does not fall off.

Mine too.. so frustrated. I go kayaking and dropped off into the river. Gone forever. I bought a new Charge 4 to replace it. If that happens again I’m giving up on Fitbit.

My husband bought an off-brand band that has ALLOT of holes and a small metal holder. It was the solution I needed since Fitbit won't fix their own problem!

The replacement band I received does not have the same problem, it has never fallen off so I am sure that first band was a manufacturing defect, it never fit securely.

My replacement band did not have the same problem. I am sure it was a manufacturing defect on the first band as it never snapped into place securley, it always felt loose.
