Charge 3 Firmware Release - 1.88.11

8/14 Update: We are continuing to roll out the firmware update for Charge 3 and expect more users will see it as available. This is a progressive rollout, and all customers can expect to have it within a few weeks. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed. If you don't see the option to update, don't worry - you'll have it soon!

Please use this thread to share your experience updating the firmware once it's received. If you have a different inquiry, please post in a thread with a similar topic or create a new post.

7/23 Update: the firmware update has only rolled out to a small percentage of users, and will roll out further next week. It should be rolling out to everyone soon. Thanks for your patience and interest, we look forward to hearing your feedback on the new firmware.

We've begun releasing new firmware (1.88.11) for Charge 3 to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.

*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR CHARGE 3 FIRMWARE UPDATE: ALARMS CLEARED

We moved where you set alarms from the Fitbit app to your wrist! After you update, any alarms set will be cleared and need to set up again on the device.

To make sure you don't miss an important alarm, open the Alarms app on Charge 3 and tap *+ Set up a new alarm*. Tap the checkmark to save and make sure it’s set.

Still not received it here, been checking like mad all week. Is the person above the first person to get the update on this thread?

@WarwickS I'm pretty sure the new update has been rolled out to some users, and sadly I haven't gotten it either. I do hope the update reaches everyone also as I am looking forward because there really hasn't been a new one in over a year and I want to see everything new

@Ascullyl think so. I've been going back to the app multiple times a day reloading it in hope of getting it but haven't yet. I be sure to let everyone know in the thread once I receive it

I too am so disappointed. Weird how we get so attached to these things. My workout this morning just wasn’t the same without my fitbit. Lol. I don’t know what to do?! My Fitbit is only a year old. I never expected it to last for such a short time!?

I am so looking forward to it, Love my Charge 3 and want some new watch faces.

Same here, as I've wanted them to release new ones for so long 😅

Thanks @LizzyFitbit . I'm glad there are a lot of people happy with this new feature added to their trackers. However, you've also removed a feature that was very important to me. Why can't we have both? I'm told that's the case on some other models. Users can choose to manage alarms on the device or the smartphone app.

Edit: I just tested on an Inspire HR, and I am able to modify alarms on my wrist, in the smartphone app, and on the web dashboard.

Now I want to sign up for that (beta tester) but are there any drawbacks to it?

Okay, so you had early access as a field tester. Glad to hear you like it so we have something to look forward to when we eventually receive it. I guess we are still back to no one is confirmed to have received it yet since the rollout on the 17th.

I was about to ask that @Ascully. I spent the last couple of days searching the internet for the new ones, and couldn't find them anywhere 😭

@jfe Did you have the banner on the "Today" screen of the app tell you that an update was available or was there something more? There has been mention of a red dot in the "inbox" area on the right side of the "Today" screen. I have had a banner on my screen for nearly a week but have been unable to get the new firmware. It stops at about 1/4 of the way. I have tried rebooting my device, unpairing etc. but no dice. I figured maybe I had to wait till something arrived in that inbox.

Always a clear banner indicating a new update. But there were like 4 firmware updates in the process. We were told to always reset the device before doing an update also and clear user data (sync first beforehand)

Hi Kate,

I have been using my charge 3 daily and all of a sudden it started to vibrate and wouldn’t stop.  I made sure it was charged but the vibration continued until it died and went completely black.  I need help to get this fixed.

As far as I know, some users got 1.88.11 way before the announcement. I believe they are beta users. Does anyone get the 1.88.11 from the regular firmware update?

I have not heard of anyone getting the update yet from the rollout announced on the 17th (not  friends nor through online searches), I've only seen beta testers that had it early.
