8/14 Update: We are continuing to roll out the firmware update for Charge 3 and expect more users will see it as available. This is a progressive rollout, and all customers can expect to have it within a few weeks. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed. If you don't see the option to update, don't worry - you'll have it soon! 

 

Please use this thread to share your experience updating the firmware once it's received. If you have a different inquiry, please post in a thread with a similar topic or create a new post. 


 

7/23 Update: the firmware update has only rolled out to a small percentage of users, and will roll out further next week. It should be rolling out to everyone soon. Thanks for your patience and interest, we look forward to hearing your feedback on the new firmware. 

 


We've begun releasing new firmware (1.88.11) for Charge 3 to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed. 

 

*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR CHARGE 3 FIRMWARE UPDATE: ALARMS CLEARED

 

We moved where you set alarms from the Fitbit app to your wrist! After you update, any alarms set will be cleared and need to set up again on the device. 

 

To make sure you don't miss an important alarm, open the Alarms app on Charge 3 and tap *+ Set up a new alarm*. Tap the checkmark to save and make sure it’s set.

Kate, any update on the rollout? Still sounds like very few people have it after going on the 3rd week now, has a problem been found with the firmware?

Could this be the reason my Fitbit has not been working. I charged it yesterday and then it just went black. I charged it again last night and it went black again today. I tried the restart but it says I need to charge it again. If this is the cause, I’m not happy with Fitbit!!!

I haven't received the firmware update. My C3 no longer has any sensor light activity on the back, so there is no heart monitoring. It holds a charge for less than 12 hours. It is nearly useless.  When FitBit is bought outtout in the near future, is the new corporate owner going to honor existing warranties?. I'm disappointed with FitBit for not acknowledging that they have a major problem.

I still haven’t got the update and i am really excited about getting it and it is already the evening of the third of August I’m wondering if I am even going to get the update can someone tell if I am going to get it and what is the latest date possible to get it

Hi can I ask was your charge 3 still working either totally or partially (ie not syncing telling wrong time no notifications etc.) before the firmware update or had it died completely? Mine was till yesterday partially usable but eventually the screen went black and it now vibrates randomly and is no use to me at all. I have no ideas if it charges when plugged in and the app is still saying "Device not found" Thanks 😊

We were told the update would be released in batches and as it is now nearly 3 wks since this post, I am giving up hope of ever getting it!! Furthermore as of yesterday, my charge 3 started to vibrate whenrver you press the button and also the screen is now black so it cannot be used at all. I am afraid we are bring treated very poorly by Fitbit with little or no communication. I understand it is not the guys who run the forums fault but there is nowhere else to vent our frustrations. Today I will be going to purchase another brand of tracker/watch because I have had it with Fitbit.

I was experiencing intermittent syncing wrong time showing couldn’t connect with phone and then the device either not found or not connecting. And I am on the old software! Fitbit is only 8 months old. I have done full factory reset to no avail.

My Charge 3 is 14 months old, and I have been having the same issues Non syncing, wrong time etc etc since the end of June however last night I think it recorded its last step as the screen is now black and no lights reacting on reverse and it just vibrates when you press the button. Will be purchasing a new tracker/watch today (which will NOT be a Fitbit) Hope you get yours sorted eventually!! 🙂

@miken67  No my issues have not been resolved and it was being used with an Android, in fact last night the screen went black and will not come on again and when pressing the button, all it does is vibrate, so I am today going to purchase a replacement which will NOT be a Fitbit

It got gradually dimmer beginning around mid-June and eventually went completely dark. From what I can tell it is still fully functional otherwise, however, I can only view data from my iPhone now that the screen is dark.

I purchased a(nother) Charge 3 for my wife this weekend. It updated to 163.5, BUT...

I noticed,  the new one is brighter, and still has the All day sync button on the app, which mine ( apparently with same firmware/software) does not.

I am thinking there is more going on here...

So far... mine seems to work as it should - 15 months and counting- apart from being almost unreadable in sunshine. I am using the analog clock face.
