8/14 Update: We are continuing to roll out the firmware update for Charge 3 and expect more users will see it as available. This is a progressive rollout, and all customers can expect to have it within a few weeks. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed. If you don't see the option to update, don't worry - you'll have it soon!

Please use this thread to share your experience updating the firmware once it's received. If you have a different inquiry, please post in a thread with a similar topic or create a new post.

7/23 Update: the firmware update has only rolled out to a small percentage of users, and will roll out further next week. It should be rolling out to everyone soon. Thanks for your patience and interest, we look forward to hearing your feedback on the new firmware.

We've begun releasing new firmware (1.88.11) for Charge 3 to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.

*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR CHARGE 3 FIRMWARE UPDATE: ALARMS CLEARED

We moved where you set alarms from the Fitbit app to your wrist! After you update, any alarms set will be cleared and need to set up again on the device.

To make sure you don't miss an important alarm, open the Alarms app on Charge 3 and tap *+ Set up a new alarm*. Tap the checkmark to save and make sure it’s set.

Just another data point.....I'm on android, (Galaxy s9) and have not received the new firmware yet. On August 3rd my fitbit app updated. Since then I've noticed an increase in No Device Found alerts on my phone. I can usually recover from that by swiping down on the home screen of the app, but it makes me wonder if their is an issue with the latest app update and not necessarily the firmware.

I'm confused about the manual update function under the help tab. I get that it doesn't work, at least for this particular update - that's been mentioned on the board, and in my own attempts, it's proven true. The thing is, if I go into it, it begins by saying that a new update *is* ready, but then of course it goes through the process without actually accomplishing anything. I don't get why it's saying that there's an update ready if there isn't.

I've had the same experience since the latest update. I'm on a Google Pixel 3.

Ever since this update my screen has been blank.

@narf57 I have had the same exact experience (S9 & app updated to version 3.27 recently). It will even say no device found while showing my current heart rate, so clearly it found my device & is actively syncing live data.

@Nolefan32 I agree it doesn't make any sense for the help section in the app to show an update available but then not actually work. Just another annoying thing from Fitbit that they should fix to improve customer experience.

FWIW:

Phone is a Galaxy S9. Update took about 30 minutes or so. So far as I can tell it's working as intended.

Replacement won't be here until next week, no idea if it will have or see this upgrade or not.

I do sometimes see the device not found message but it syncs & that goes away, so doesn't seem to be a real problem. I have not yet tried shutting off bluetooth & restarting it.

Hourly vibration warnings still work if I haven't completed steps, as well as for when I do in the last 10 minutes of the hour, complete 11 active hours or complete 10,000 steps for the day.

The app does display sleep time but on the main screen not the sleep score for the night. It used to include that. On the next page it only shows the score for date ranges, not daily.

Otherwise the main app page seems to show the same data it did before.

I haven't posed around enough to have noticed any other changes

You have to wait for it. It is delivered in waves. My wife just got hers
but I haven't got mine. Be patient, it isn't a magic bullet, but it does
change things.

I updated my Charge 3 yesterday and no longer receive notifications/reminders to move or notifications of calls or texts. I have checked everything that I know to do, and all the settings are as Fitbit says they should be. Still nothing. It is possible that I'm confused about when Do Not Disturb is on and when it's not. It isn't clear to me if DND with "-" means it's on or not in quick settings. In the regular setting not sure if "Exercise Alerts On" means they are on or if they it means they will turn on if I tap on the screen. I've tried it both ways, and still no alerts or notifications.  I have only had the update for 24 hours, and I have spent at least 3 hours trying to decipher the update. It would be helpful if you had information spelled out somewhere - the manual, on the website, in the forums, anywhere!

Updated charge3. It seemed to take 2 attempts to make it work and it took over an hour. But it worked in the end. Thx!

Updated about a week ago and everything is working fine for me.

Lots of new features and screens are generally much brighter and easier to read.

Alarms were fiddly to set up on the device but now that’s done they work fine, no unintended sleep-ins. Exercise summaries on the device are good.

I’ve done my update but since then my Fitbit will not work at all other than show the time, nor will it retain its charge. Any recommendations please? I’ve tried to reset etc

Hello, my charge 3 special edition is stuck at 1.63.5 since one year almost. I followed all the procedures mentioned on the help page but the symptoms are still the same. I start the update process on my phone and in a couple of seconds it is saying that the update is finished when in fact it did nothing. I already stopped using fitbit pay for security reasons since the firmware is old. I have absolutely no ideea how to proceeds.

@Paul9326 No mate. Your device has the second latest firmware. The majority are still on 1.63.5 and waiting for the latest version, the 1.88.11.

The version in between is for a special group of customers.

Don't worry, you have the correct version, and soon you will be able to update the latest version. Hang in there and wait for it.

Got it. Thanks mate! 😃
