Charge 3 GPS only connects when app is active and phone is on

Okay, I’ve checked all the similar posts and I don’t see one that’s exactly like mine. When I start a walk from my tracker the tracker struggles to find my phone. When it finally connects, it only stays connected if I keep my phone on with the Fitbit app active. If I change to another app, or the phone enters sleep mode, I lose the connection. It’s kind of ridiculous to wander around my neighborhood with my Fitbit app in the foreground. The whole purpose of wearing a tracker is to not have to carry a phone in my hand.

I’m running the most recent version of the Fitbit app on my iPhone which doesn’t yet have iOS 14 on it.

Having the same issue with my Charge 3 on an Android phone. Very frustrating and can't seem to find a fix on here!

I Might have the same issue, just saw that I had an update for my one plus phone. So I'm going to test if that had fixed it...

EDIT: So yeah I tried to have the fitbit app open while taking a walk and it seemed to have no issues. but as Soprano12010 had said, The whole purpose of wearing a tracker is to not have to carry a phone in my hand.

hope that Fitbit will fix it soon, cause I have had issues since 28/08/2020.

Hi Soprano12010

I have figured out my issue, my issue turned out to be, that my phone had'ent set my GPS to have the Fitbit app to be always allowed. (Mine was set to allow only when in use)

hope it'll help you.

Nope, I have “always allowed” enabled in the app. That was actually the first thing I checked... thanks for reminding me because I didn’t specify that in my original post.
