With Charge 2 after a run without my phone I could see the map with pace and time. Charge 3 does not do that. And all my GPS system on phone and device are on

Mine also stopped showing the map after my walks, but it coincided with me changing my phone. So after advice to make sure I had turned off all power saving options on my phone, and enabling location services, also I have google location services on. I now have it showing maps again after my walks when I use rage walk exercise activity on the charge 3 and have data enabled on my phone and can see that the charge 3 has Connected GPS running.

Hope this helps. If you get your phone right I believe you should be able to get it working.

Regards.

Thanks for replying. I have all my GPSs on, location on, and power at 'optimal'. My circumstances are similar to yours, in that my phone had a software update and since then, though if says bluetooth is on, it's no longer a small icon at the top next to the battery etc. I wondered if it was that but my fitbit is definitely paired, its registering everything else.

Not sure what optimal power might mean. You want to be sure its not trying to do any power saving.  The last thing you could try is to unpair and re pair the device.  Other than that you might need some better guidance from somebody at Fitbit rather than just another user like me. Good luck.RegardsMark Reed.Sent from my Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

Thank you. tried that. Even factory reset my phone and it still says 'gps will not be turned on' at run and walk (and bike but not aerobics!). Thanks anyway.

@Bolicsteroids, I think I have a hunch... "GPS will not be turned on" shows in account settings where you set up auto-recognition time for different exercise types. Everyone sees this verbiage because auto-recognition is working without GPS. The only exception is run - last firmware update introduced auto-pause for running and auto-recognition with GPS. This phrase is also present only for exercises that are able to use GPS - aerobics is not one of them, thus, you won't see anything related to GPS next to this and other similar exercises.

In order to get a map of your route, you have to track your walk manually and enable GPS from your tracker. Thus, you have to add walk exercise shortcut to Charge 3. Then swipe once - tap on exercise - swipe again till you get to Walk, then swipe up. You'll see an option to enable or disable GPS - make sure it's enabled. Then when you go for a walk, you have to select Walk once again on your Charge 3, tap on it, then tap Start. You'll see how tracker will try to connect to your phone. Once it's connected, you have to tap Start again to begin tracking.

Here's Help article about exercise tracking and tracking with GPS - I hope you can find it helpful.

Have a great day.

Hi,

I just realised my maps had stopped again, but then remembered that I need to turn wifi off and only have data enabled on my Samsung phone in order for it to show me a map at the end of my walk. So just tried that and got maps back again. So might be worth you trying this as well.

Regards.

Thank you, but issues still the same. It's driving me mad and customer support just keeps telling me the same thing over and over, with no change  I'm so disappointed.

Hi guys,

I have a different problem... My app only shows half of the map.. From al the 4 runs I did so far I'm only getting partials... Most of the time the first km or so is missing, ( in the end it does give the right amount of runned km). I do wait until my charge 3 says I'm connected, wifi is off and location and everything is on.

Please help!

I’m also having a similar problem. I’ve got an iPhone 8, GPS is enabled, WIFI switched off, no maps within the app. If I log into my account on Fitbit.com, I see the map by navigating to the dashboard tab.

Would appreciate any assistance; thanks in advance.

It's still not resolved, I'm pretty annoyed!

This is absolutely ridiculous; a dashboard should be a common feature within the app instead of having to log into your Fitbit account. Further, the Dashboard should show the GPS tracked map.

My 'fix' has been to make sure i have another running app open when i run. Not what i should have to do but it works. The map pulls through to the Fitbit app (make sure they're linked apps).

What app do you recommend for connective integration?

Strava and Runkeeper. I use the latter just because I've friends on Strava and i prefer noone knowing where i am and when. I'm sure others do the same.

Thank you; I’ve tried Map My Run, but will look into these others based on your recommendation.

is the exercise app the regular Fitbit app? if so I cant find how to select the exercise type and turn on gps. Today I ran more than 2 miles and my Fitbit said I ran 1.6. It is underestimating my runs and walks.

My first fitbit provided a GPS map of my run without having to carry my phone.  This seems to be a step in the wrong direction.  When will this be fixed?

I have been using my Charge 3 to track my walks.  I start the wearable in exercise walk mode and I open my Fitbit App on my phone, as I had the setting set at "Track while in use".  Today suddenly I kept getting a message to go to settings and change to ALWAYS track in order for my exercise to log.
I have been using it set up like this for months and getting the map.  All of a sudden today I need my setting on Location Track "ALWAYS".  WTH?  No settings were changed for any app or anythingelse on my phone.
