Charge 3 Kept buzzing and now no green lights

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Charge 3 went crazy at lunchtime today. It wouldn't stop buzzing, and scrolling through menus.

I put it in charger, and held it down saw the progress bar, and smiley face.

It turned on, but no heartrate, steps, or any other data.

Tried resetting several more times, still no joy.

It's had the latest updates, but is almost 2 years old...

Thoughts, suggestions ?

Hello @EntropicLife. It's great to see you around.

Thank you very much for the detailed information and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried prior to posting. Currently, I'm not sure about what exactly could have caused this behavior, but while you've tried to restart your Charge 3, I'd recommend performing a long restart which is different than the basic restart. To complete the long restart process, please make sure to follow the instructions below:

  1. Connect the device to the charging cable.
  2. While the device is plugged into the charging cable, press and hold the button down for 15 seconds.
  3. The device turns on and shows a battery icon. Two vibrations occur: first a short vibration, then a medium vibration.
  4. The device turns off.
  5. The device turns on and shows a progress bar and short vibrations occur. The progress bar completes. Note: A total of 7 short vibrations occur.
  6. Remove the device from the charging cable. The device shuts down.
  7. Important: Plug the device into the charging cable again.

Hope this helps.

Hey there,

Thanks. I had tried the long restart yesterday, but it never seemed to go as described.

I even used a stopwatch to make sure. I held it for 15 seconds, and i would get a varying number of vibrations as the white progress bar... progressed. Sometimes one, sometimes seven... i tried it a number of times... in every case, once the progress bar got to as far as it would, i got a smiley face, and it restarted.

Finally last night, i got it to where it remembered my daily stats, but no heartrate monitor. So i tried turning it off, and on again in settings menu. Then off, reset, and on reset.... lots of resetting...

I would get green lights, but they would stop.

I put it on before bed at 90% charge, with no heartrate working. I woke up, heartrate was working,  but battery was down to 6%. Normally,  that would be over a week.

I've recharged it, and will see today how it goes. It is currently reading heartrate.

Now, for some reason, I have two dead / black lines at the top where I have the date (Analog stat) clock face.

Changing faces does not change that.

Maybe it's reaching end of life... two years seems short...?

I am now seeing more black lines, and battery life is suddenly down to one
day...
I was gardening when it happened, Fitbit was on non dominant hand as I was
digging out shrubs... nothing too violent, but my FitBit appears to be
dying...
I will get in touch with tech support.

I contacted them, and they concluded - since I had done all the
troubleshooting- that it was at end of life.
Since it is now two years old, and well out of warranty, they offered me a
discount on a new one. I will order one this week.
Thanks again.
