Charge 3 - Pace information seems wrong

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hello,

I'm trying to understand why my pace information is wrong?

My high pace is always slower than my average pace, and my longest pace is in the 100's.

I'm a new runner and I really want to know my high pace data, so this is really frustrating 😫 I find this info really motivating, and I dont know if I can even rely on my ave pace or distance now.

Does anyone know what's wrong with it or have any ideas on how to correct it?

Many Thank,

Jo

Hello @Jojo237 and welcome to the Help forum.  A little more detail for specific runs might help.  Since you are a new runner, a little explanation might help.  I am in the US, so I use miles.  Pace is the inverse of speed.  So if your pace is 20'00", you take 20 minutes to go a mile and your speed is 3 mph.  A 15'00" pace is 4 mph.  If you look at your screen or details and you see a pace in the 100s, you are moving at a snail's pace.

When you see this pace in the 100s, is it a current pace or an average pace for a run?  If it is your current pace and you are standing still, start moving.  If it is an average pace for a run, then you might have missed a setting and your run isn't being tracked correctly.

Thanks for the reply, my stats always look something like this..

Avg 12'15
Best 15'45
Longest 110'00

I'm doing C25K, but my walks are brisk and I'm not running really slowly.

My phone tracks it completely differently, saying fastest is 9'something?

I'm a bit confused lol

Weirdly, just on today's run it's made an adjustment from 15'52" to 9'51" for my best pace?

I changed units from miles to km, and then changed it back and it changed the pace recorded? It didnt change any of my past runs though.

Strange?!

@Jojo237   I looked over some old exercise data of mine and I realize what you are writing about.  Are you looking at the Pace details on the map of your run?  Something like this?

IMG_0772.png

The Low Pace and High Pace numbers are you slowest and fastest spot pace measurements during your run.  These are spot measurements.  The Low Pace can be something like really slowing down for water or something like that.  Those numbers are for that exercise and will vary from one tracked run to another.  As you progress through your C25K training, you will want to follow your average pace and watch that number get lower (that means you are getting faster).

Those number will be different from numbers on your phone due to differences in sampling frequency.

Hi LZeeW

Thanks for taking the time to reply again ☺️

Yes, that's what I was looking at. I just dont understand how my high pace is slower than my average pace? On yours your high is lower (so faster) than your average which is right.

I have samsung health on my phone, and it records longer distances than my fitbit records (sometimes by half a mile?!) It also gives me a faster pace and the high pace is also lower than the average. It's making me doubt the accuracy of my fitbit because the stats are wrong.

I called customer service and they asked me to update my app and reboot my Fitbit, but it's still doing it.

I'm wondering if its because my fitbit doesnt have built in gps?

Anyway, it doesnt really matter like you say, I can just use the avg as a bench mark.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply, it's a really nice community here!

The most important detail really is that I finish my run and dont give up before I've done my minutes!! 😂

Thank you WilsonFitbit

I might reach out again, but I think as LZeeW said, I should just focus on my average.

Thanks for replying,
