When I swipe over to Weather on my Charge 3, it never works and says to try syncing with my phone... That doesn't work either. Any insights?

My sense is that the only way the weather info can updated on the Charge 3 is via a sync with one's phone; I don't think it's designed to get weather any other way, e.g., on the fly like an Apple Watch can do one's iPhone is within Bluetooth reach.

This is what I’ve come to think as well.

The weather information that I get now is still dated. Even after a sync,
the data states it’s up to an hour old.

Yes, I noticed that this morning; synching just now I get data that is labeled “32 minutes ago”; my recall is less than perfect but it seems to me that getting 'old' weather wasn't always the case.

ugh. i’ve done all the suggested steps.

weather finally showed last night, for maybe an hour after completing reset, update, sync. even then it was nearly an hour old.

and it’s gone again.

of course i bought from Target w a 30 day return policy and just passed that timeframe. so annoying. Fitbit needs to fix this or give us all refunds.

Yes. That’s the case for me too. Weather will only show up or update if I open the app on my phone and sync. Whereas steps can sync automatically throughout the day.

Hi! This seems to be a real hot topic! I think I have to synchronize and re-synch later as the weather will disappear after awhile.☺️ I’ve gotten A LOT of responses about weather not appearing on (our) Charge 3’s!

I found a setting in my Fitbit app that solves my problem. It was user error, all along!

I've tried using the Weather app, but after following all the recommended steps, the app will not display my current location nor display city names when I try to add them to the app in settings. I've deleted the app from my iphone and reinstalled it.  That did not help.  Location services are enabled on my phone and the fitbit app is set to always allow location services.  What other steps can I possibly take to get the weather app to work on my Charge 3?  All other enabled apps work fine.  Is my Charge 3 defective in some way?

I've noticed that the weather app seems to need a little to achieve its sync/update. I usually sync my Charge 3 each morning to see my sleep data. Then, on my Charge 3, I scroll over to the weather face and watch it update. Today, I didn't do the weather step and closed the FitBit app. I then scrolled to the weather face and was presented with its sad sun picture saying please sync. My surmise is that after so many hours, the last synced weather is taken down and replaced with the sad sun. I am surprised, however, to see that I apparently need to help the weather sync by changing to the appropriate screen on the Charge 3.

Thanks Davideasy. I don’t know what I might have done differently today. But right after I posted my message, I opened the weather app in the Fitbit app on my phone and while it synced my current location appeared. I then tried adding two more cities. The names finally displayed in lists that I could select them from. I then checked my charge 3 and found the current temperatures for all three cities displayed in the app instead of the sad sun! All I needed to do was complain about it to make it work.

Hi Jeff2922- no... you are part of the “crowd “ that has trouble getting the weather on your Charge 3. Mine shows (I think) Centigrade for the brief time after I synch my C3. It tells me the temp is 12*!☺️🤣 I think we can ALL look forward to this ‘bug’ being fixed in the future...

Thanks all! I am glad the app’s not working wasn’t due to user error. It has been frustrating to say the least! 😬

This happened to me as well; my belief is that the firmware upgrade flipped my Fahrenheit setting to Centigrade; you just have to go into the weather app inside the FitBit app and reset the preference to Fahrenheit.

Hi everyone! If you've followed the tips and recommendations I've share here, but the inconvenience persists, I'd recommend trying a Factory reset on your Fitbit Charge 3.

On your device, open the Settings app > About Factory Reset or Clear User Data.

After doing the factory reset and the issue persist, please let me know. I'll be around!

Hi Marre,

I followed your suggested steps here, and its actually made things worse. My C3 can no longer connect to my iPhone through Bluetooth. As a result, its no longer syncing at all (including All Day Sync).

Best,
Damien

@SantiR Your response is detailed in the documentation. Thanks for sharing. However, my device has a similar but not the same issue which I’m hopeful you may have a fix for.

I have All-Day sync enabled. At no time when I go into my weather app on the Charge 3 is the weather synced. A message is displayed saying I must synch. If I wait for a few seconds, after the delay the weather them comes up.

As a test. I have just now down a hard ‘sync now’ action on the iPhone App, waited for that to complete, have it 20 second and them went into the Charge 3 to load the weather app. The exact same “you need to synch’ message is displayed, you wait a few seconds, and then the weather comes up.

Is that hat as programmed or is it a bug?

I read and followed the directions for enabling GPS on my phone (I already had) and syncing my new charge 3. It still will not show weather and tells me to sync to my phone, which I have done at least 10 times. Help!

The method that seems to work for me is: 1) sync to your phone w/the FitBit app 2) on your FitBit, swipe left to get to the page that shows the weather icon, 3) tap the icon... if a refreshed forecast doesn’t show, press the haptic button on the left side of the Charge 3 — that usually will refresh the forecast right before your eyes...it make take a press or two.

I've given up on the weather app.  If I have to sync it with my phone every time I want to see the weather, I'll just use the weather app on my phone period.  I'm also having an issue with my fitbit and stairs.  It had me doing 13 flights of stairs the other day, when all I did was ride the escalator at the mall up and down once.
