Charge 3 Weather not showing on device

When I swipe over to Weather on my Charge 3, it never works and says to try syncing with my phone... That doesn't work either. Any insights?

Sadly, that approach has not worked for me. I think we are waiting for a software update from Fitbit with the weather app developer, to properly resolve this ‘bug’ of variable sync with the weather app.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

Hi Marre,

I'm reporting back again that the action you proposed here actually made things worse. Clearing User Data on my C3 has made it so I can no longer use "All Day Sync" in the app on my iPhone. It seems to be connecting to Bluetooth, but "All Day Sync" just gets a pinwheel spinning indefinitely now.

Because of this and the many other issues noted in this thread, I find it problematic that the conversation is marked as "Solved." I'm at the point of requesting a refund for my C3 due to the Weather app not working. Marking the convo "Solved" is misleading.

Thanks!

Damien

I have Locations on, and still no joy for weather.  Initially no local area but it did work for 2 cities I added!! Now 3 weeks later weather simply says to sync the device and my phone etc etc, which I do regularly, but does not help at all.  I’m in Adelaide Australia. Hope you have some ideas for me!!!

On my iPhone, in Settings, under Privacy, Location Services are on (green), and, scrolling down, the setting for the FitBit app is 'Always'. Then, after syncing my Charge 3 with my phone and before I close the FitBit app, I swipe left over to the weather app, tap it, then press the haptic button once or twice and the sad sun is replaced with the current weather or weather that is less than 60’ old.

Under the point where you set Location Services 'ON' on your iPhone, scroll
down and make sure the setting for the FitBit app is set to 'Always'.

Then, when you sync the Charge 3 with the FitBit app on your iPhone, after
the sync is complete and before you close the app, on your Charge 3, swipe
left to the face where the weather app icon is, then tap it to 'open' the
app. There you'll mostly likely see the sad sun icon and a message to sync
to get the weather. At this point, press the haptic button on the left side
of the Charge 3 and, after one or two pushes, current or near current
weather should appear (assumes you previously set up the weather app in the
account area of the FitBit app).

On your Charge 3, one left swipe should get you to a face with the Exercise and Relax icons, swipe left a 2nd time and you should see the Timers and Alarms icons, swipe left a third time and you should see icons for Weather and Settings. On this screen, tap the weather icon and you should then see either (a) the weather for your location, or, more likely, (b) a sad sun telling you to sync to get the weather. In the case of the sad sun, now sync with your iPhone and when the sync is complete but before you close the FitBit app, turn your attention to the Charge 3 and swipe over and tap to get to the sad sun. Now press the haptic button on the left side of the Charge 3 (once or twice) and weather info should replace the sad sun.

If I have to sync the weather with my phone EVERY time then I’ll just look at the weather on my phone instead. It’s a wasted feature in my book.

Hi everyone! I really appreciate you've taken the time to try and follow the recommendations along this thread. I've been reporting this situation as it caught to my attention that all of you are on iOS devices, so I'd appreciate if you can provide me with the following information:

- What iPhone/iPad you have

- What OS is your iOS running

- Version of the Fitbit app

- Firmware Version of your Charge 3

Looking forward to hearing from you!

  • I use an iPhone 7
  • I'm running iOS 12.1
  • Not quite sure on the version of my App - I believe it is the most up-to-date as it didn't have an update when I checked this morning
  • I think the firmware for my Charge 3 is version 20001.44.33

Thanks @Calehu and @BEC29To see which version of the Fitbit app is installed on your device:

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap or click the Account icon .
  2. Tap or click Help. You'll see the app version at the top of the screen.

Let's see what the others say about what I asked!

For what it's worth, weather works on my Charge 3.  Sometimes it takes 30-45 seconds for it to show up on the tracker.  It tells me below the temperature how long ago it was I synced so that way I know how old that weather reading is.

iPhone X running iOS 12.1

Fitbit Charge 3 Version 20001.44.33

Running Fitbit 2.83 (804)

@Babydottie13 To be fair, your Fitbit is taking the weather data provided by your phone and populating it on your tracker.  If you don't sync at least periodically during the day, you're going to be provided with inaccurate weather data.

IPhone 7
IOS 12.1
??? (Where can I find the app version?)
V20001.44.33

Other settings:
Location Services = ON & FitBit = 'Always'
All Day Sync = OFF

My Charge 3 seems to be functioning and syncing correctly; weather needs to be 'hand-synced' in order to function.
