Charge 3: Wristbands not latching to monitor

My Fitbit Charge 3 is just out of warranty and the strap has broken. I have a replacement strap which won't click into the tracker on the top side. I got the original strap and that won't click in either. I tried another spare strap with the same result. There is obviously a problem with the locking mechanism on the top side of the tracker. The bottom side clicked in no problem. As this was a birthday gift, I don't have the receipt.
