Charge 3 - actually waterproof?

Just wanted to see if anybody else out there has successful swam or gotten their charge 3 wet without any issues? I’m a little wary on it actually being waterproof.

Success stories, or fail stories, I want to hear them!

I went swimming with my Charge 3 accidentally (jumped in the pool and forgot to take it off) since then several of the little LED's are not working and it is very hard to read.  I recommend not swimming with the Charge 3

I am on my 3rd one and I am just going to try keep it out of the water. The
last one was only worn in the shower! They should not be marketed as even
water resistant!

I have owned my Charge 3 for 1 year now & I have just received my 3rd replacement in this time, everyone damaged after being swimming. clearly this device is not waterproof or IP67 compatible. Same symptoms every time, the display starts to lose pixels and within 24 hours the display has totally gone blank. However, the tracker and vibration still works.

Fitbit obviously know they have a problem as they are very quick to organize a replacement and never ask for the broken one to be returned.

I have owned many fitbits over the years, and was used to removing them before going near water, I will now continue to do this with my latest replacement, even if they claim otherwise

Yes, it is obvious they know. I wish they would just get it right.

Why yes, my Charge 3 is waterproof and I love it! Many of the other ladies in my aquatics class also own the Charge 3 and no issues.  Sorry to hear that others are having difficulty with their device. In our family, we have quite a collection of Fitbit devices, and knock on wood, I am not having issues with the Charge 3. My husband has had three different Versa 2 and something is wrong there. Gave my Mom my Charge 2 and now that is having problems, so have to work on that next!

I just don't see how I have gotten 2 in a row that are susceptible to
water...

I am looking to get Fitbit Charge 3, where can I find getting case for Fitbit Charge 3 that is waterproof.

My charge 3 was certainly not waterproof. I brought it swimming in the lake for the first real contact with water and immediately the screen had issues. It appeared to have a white haze / milky appearance to the screen. Slowly over time it progressed to the point where the screen was permanently blank and I had to synch with my phone to see stats. This seems to line up with my previous experience with a fit bit (charge 2) that they last about 6 - 8 months and then break down and require replacement. I assume mine is the abnormality in that it wasn't water resistant but i'm not 2 for 2 on fitbits with durability issues.

My Charge 2 has actually lasted more than 2 years, even with a cracked
screen (my fault). I actually have used it when my Charge 3s died while I
was waiting for a replacement. I don't think it's a reliability issue
overall for Fitbits, it's an issue of false advertising, Charge 3s should
have never been advertised as water resistant as they clearly are not.

I’ve been scuba diving twice in Dubai in water up to 10 meters and mine is still working fine. I’ve had it for about 8 months now.

I have gotten a number of responses to my post,  The huge majority are from folks with similar experiences to mine.  There are a couple of folks who have had been able to swim with their Charge 3 without issues.  However by my tally the score is 6 folks have experienced problems swimming with the Charge 3 and 2 have not.

My own charge three is still humming along with a few burned out pixels but I have never gotten it wet since swimming with it that one time.

Draw your own conclusions from the data presented here,  but my recommendation has not changed! For the most part the Charge 3 does not do well in water.  Govern yourself accordingly.

I’m on my 2nd Charge 3 as the first died after my 2nd swim with it. The replacement has just died too - and I’m away on holiday. Managed 5 swims with this one.
Makes me wonder just how ‘swim proof’ the device really is..... Or maybe my 2 just came from a dodgy batch.

Wore mine in the pool for the first time and it no longer works. Obviously it is not waterproof.

I have just gotten my FitBit, and I wanted to take it swimming soon, and I was very glad to see this comment, as I have poor eyesight and this would be very handy in the pool.

My fitbit 3 just died after one time in the pool. The charge dies very quickly. I bought the 3 to prevent for use in the pool. Is there someone that can help fix this?

The only thing you can do is call Fitbit, do their troubleshooting and get it replaced.

Mine has just died after some water visibly got in while swimming (condensation is visible in the heart rate sensor). Very disappointed to say the least. It turns on but randomly buzzes and swipes itself continuously, killing the battery very quickly.

Exactly what happened to mine, I did get a replacement but am very wary about wearing it swimming. Definitely won’t buy a Fitbit again as I’ve heard people have had the same trouble with the versa.

My first 2 charge 3’s did EXACTLY the same thing after wearing them for swimming. Haven’t tried with the new one yet.....
