i just received this from a live chat with FITBIT when asked if the new CHARGE 3 will be compatible with the older ARIA: We checked all available resources and we haven't received an update on the Aria compatibility yet or how it will work. We’re excited to release more information on Charge 3 soon. Until then, see the product page and press release for details: fitbit.com/charge3 and investor.fitbit.com/press/press-releases.
Does anyone know before i preorder the CHARGE 3? Thanks!

@phcrowe The Arias don't actually talk to your Fitbit tracker. The original Aria is WiFi only and can be used without any Fitbit tracker at all. The Aria 2 added Bluetooth to make the setup easier from your smartphone, but again it can be used with any Fitbit tracker, or without one at all. In both cases your weigh-ins are transmitted to the Fitbit servers directly from the scale via WiFi.

But you have to sync the fitbit to the ARIA right? I received a hand me down ARIA and want to make sure it will "talk" to my CHARGE 3 if i preorder it. Thanks so much for your time!

Hi @phcrowe - Actually no. The Aria will sync with the Fitbit app, not with the tracker itself.

Actually as mentioned by @Michael above, the Aria connects to the users wifi and syncs directly to your Fitbit account in the cloud.
The charge 3 will sync to the same Fitbit account in the cloud . The charge will sync through the Fitbit app which simply sends the data to the cloud.
The Fitbit app simply displays what has already synced to your Fitbit account.
As @Ozzie65 points out the charge 3 and the Aria do not talk to each other, both do talk to your Fitbit account in the cloud.

They don't work together for me - as soon as I added my Charge 3 to the account my Aria 2 stopped syncing with the app. Deleted the Aria and tried to add it back again but you can't add both to your account. It immediately removed the Charge and replaced it with Aria.

@jjjjjj have you updated your Fitbit app? I'm not sure what you synv through.
You say the Aria 2 stopped syncing when the Charger 3 was added, was the Aria 2 removed from your account at that point in time?
My Aria 2 and Charge 3 are playing happy together.
We have documented a problem where trying to add a second device with remove the Charge 3, people report that this doesn't happen with the Windows app.
My thought if to connect the Aria 2 then connect the Charge 3,. If the Aria 2 won't sync through the wifi then we will want to troubleshoot a sync issue. Removing a device from your account is not the way to fix a sync issue.

My first gen Aria and Charge 3 are working fine in the app at the same time. I really doubt the oldest aria works and not the 2nd gen.

@Rich_Laue thanks - adding the Aria first and then the Charge worked. However, I still can't get the Aria to connect to wifi and sync so I guess it's just an issue with my scale at this point.

Was the Aria able to sync before adding the Charge 3?

@Rich_Laue yes it didn't have issues before that and there have been no changes to my wifi settings

@jjjjjj I'm not sure what your referring to before that?
Are you saying before you got the Charge 3 the scales synced or are you saying when you set the Aria up in the last day it was able to sync your weight? Then when the Charge 3 was added the scale would not sync anymore, but it is still connected to the account.
What error shows up on the scale?

Since I added my new charge 3 and removed my charge 2, it no longer updates the weight from my Aria in my Fitbit app. It always worked with the charge 2. Please can you give me a solution? Oh and also how to remove the hundreds of notifications from my Fitbit app? Thanks

Do you get any error on your Aria after weighing your self? They arrive talks to the Fitbit server through your wifi, not your Fitbit app or the Charge 2.
Does your weight show up on Fitbit.com

No, no error message on the Aria. When using my old charge 2 it was fine. Just doesn’t update to the Fitbit app after weighing since I am using my new charge 3?

The tracker has nothing to do with the syncing of your Aria data @Biervrouw
Your Fitbit tracker will only dumb through Bluetooth.
Your Aria scale will only sync through Wifi.
Please check your Wifi settings in the Aria scale itself.
How do I reconnect my scale to my wireless network?
Why won't my Fitbit device sync?
We also have the user manual and the online manual

What is the question @C0156?
The Aria is a scale and connected to your Fitbit account. The Charge 3 is a tracker, the 2 units have nothing on common.
