Charge 3 battery dies in a couple of hours and screen shows horizontal lines

I charged my Fitbit before bed and it was  100% charged before I went to work but by lunchtime it was completely dead. I came home, charged it to full again and within 2 minutes it was Down to 66% battery. It also went from 100% to 2% earlier then when putting on charge back up to 100% all in the space of 5 minutes. Also horizontal lines have appeared on the screen. I think my Fitbit is Around 17 months old. I don’t really want to be buying a new Fitbit every year and a half. Please help. I’ve cleaned the charger, changed the plug, reset etc. What can I try next?

@Claireirlam Welcome to the Fitbit Community!

Sorry to hear that your Charge 3's battery is draining quickly and the screen is only showing lines. Also thank you for troubleshooting this issue. Since the issue persists I have created a ticket so our Support team can further assist you via email.

Let me know how it goes.

With so many recent concerns/issues with batteries rapidly discharging, I'm wondering whether anyone at Fitbit has considered the possibility that the most recent firmware update is at least part of the problem.  I have no way of knowing whether there is a cause and effect relationship, but my personal experience leads me to conclude the two things may be related.  Just wondering.
