Charge 3 battery draining after the update

I use my fitbit practically every day for the last 2 years I've owned it. I've never had a problem with it until recently. After I did the last update for it, my fitbit goes from fully charged to dead in approximately 3 hours. I've read previous things such as clean the prongs, reset it, charge it properly, etc. I've tried all those things and nothing has fixed the problem. The only correlation I can make is that it happened directly after the update. The update didn't go as smoothly as it normally does either. Typically it takes about 30 minutes. This time it took about 90 and reset itself a few times when I would check on it to keep my phone active. Has this happened to anyone else? Would the next update fix it?

Hi Mooremc, unfortunately I am having the same issue.  Since the recent iPhone update, I lost notifications and now my Fitbit is not holding a charge.  Within 3 hours it’s dead.  Try emailing customer service.  Mine is not even a year old yet, so I reached out to them and I am still covered under warranty.  They might be able to help you.  Good luck!

Mine is over a year old now. But I'm referring to the fitbit update, not my phone update. Thank you for your advice though.

Hi there, I’m having a issue!

I need to charge my Fitbit everyday now and I don’t understand why.

I was recently on holiday and first thought was that maybe it had something to do with the time change or something.

like yourself I have cleaned the charger and Fitbit reset it. Let battery completely die and left on charge over night.

But nothing seems to be working!!!

If there is away to fix this please let us all know

Hi there @Mooremc and @Nicka10, welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for taking the time to troubleshoot your Charge 3 trackers prior to contacting us.

As a reminder, the following are some factors that have an impact on battery life and may cause your battery to drain more quickly:

  • Frequently checking the Fitbit app, which syncs your tracker
  • Frequently receiving notifications
  • Frequently checking your stats
  • Using Quick View.

If you still believe your battery is not lasting as long as expected, we’d like you to do a battery test to see how long your battery lasts after a full charge. Please do the following:

  1. Disable the features that can impact battery life as described here.
  2. Fully charge your tracker.
  3. Sync your tracker 5-6 times a day.
  4. Wear your tracker until it is fully depleted.

Hey there @nettyg21, I'm very glad to hear that our Support Team has helped you. Thanks for your kind advice.

Hopefully this gets you back on track. Let me know the outcome, I'll be more than glad to continue assisting you. 😉

I have done all of your recommended troubleshooting. I’ve done everything to maximize battery life. I charge my Charge 3 fully and it drains in less than 24 hours. It buzzes and changes screens constantly and can’t keep accurate time. I have this one for a little over a year. Just bought new bands and now this. My last Fitbit lasted less than two years also. I’m about ready to try a Garmin or Apple.

Ive had exactly the same experience.I updated my fitbit app a couple of days ago. Since then my fitbit has started losing battery. I would charge it fully and within a couple of hours of hours it would be completely dead. I had no major issues with the battery before this and it's strange how it correlates with my app update.

I would like to add that my Charge 3 only lasts a day, I’ve managed to get it to nearly 2 days after turning off all notifications. Although I used to rely on this feature at work so a big shame I can’t do this now as well as recharging every day!

Hi, is this a joke? I mean check frequently my watch or receiving notifications? No definitely you have introduced some bugs during the last update.

My fitbit charge 3 battery use to last a week or even 2 now after the update I've got these bugs:

  • battery last  not even 1 hour!
  • Screen black
  • At night starts to vibrate like mad and flashing the screen.
  • When the screen decide to work doesn't refresh like before

Fix the bugs and say sorry instead to start to write things like, of course the battery run out  if you use the watch the battery THO!

Hi, I had all of these same issues back in November.  They sent me a replacement and now 7 months later, same thing has happened.  I am now left with another dead charge 3!  They offered me 25% off the purchase of a new one.  Your warranty is only good for 1 year on the original purchase, not the replacement.  As a customer for many years, this is slap in the face. I’m done with Fitbit products.  They knew about all of these issues with Charge 3 and haven’t done anything about it.

This is the most saddest thing in the world.

Offer only 25% is insanely stupid.

They offer me 50% and what shocked me was that the offer was only for old products and for products that were worth way less than the charge 3. Their strategy is definitely the wrong one compare to other companies like Garmin and Apple.

Which other product did you buy after the charge 3?
